  • BradleyFans chat with Coach Geno Ford- Thursday, Aug. 23, 12 noon-1PM

The 2012-2013 basketball season is getting closer!

Coach Geno Ford has agreed to do a chat session for BradleyFans. We have tentatively agreed on Thursday, August 23 at 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm. I hope fans can plan ahead to be free for that hour to ask questions of the coach about the upcoming season.

As in the past, you do not need to be a registered member of this board to join in the chat.

I will post the link to the chatroom, and instuction as soon as we finalize the plans.

Excellent! It's great to see him be willing to do this. I will put this on my work calendar and make sure to be there.

It's too bad he isn't allowed to talk about specific recruits, it would be nice to be able to ask him about his opinions.

Yes, we really appreciate Coach Ford taking time to do this. And thanks for mentioning about the recruits. For ay who do not know, the NCAA prohibits coaches from discussing any specific recruit, so the only recruiting questions we will allow are general recruiting questions.

Excellent! Let's be tough on Geno, as Coach Les thought we would have had tougher questions for him.
Too bad I have a meeting from noon to 1 PM that very day.

Thanks to Bobby Parker for setting this up with Coach. Couldn't have worked out without the direction of Da Coach either.

I would be curious to know when he expects to have a team that can compete for the conference championship. Also, what is his measuring stick for a successful season this year?

Here is the link to the Chat Room for the Chat with Coach Geno Ford next Thursday-

It is easy to use. Feel free to check it out ahead of the chat session.
Go to the chatroom and click on the Log In link in the upper right, then enter your email address.
If you have registered before, click I am a registered user, then enter your password and click on the Log me in button. On the next page, you may be asked to select a room; click the Bradley Basketball room title. Then on the next page you can select a color for your text to make it easier to distinguish your question. I'll suggest picking a color other than red, since Coach Ford's answers will be in red.
Then click Enter Room button. On the next page, click the Join Chat button at the bottom and you are in the chat room.

If you have never registered, or if you have forgotten your password, click the second button and follow the instructions there and above to enter the chat room.
Let me know if you have any problems.

Possible Questions for chat session with Geno: (I will be happy with whichever you decide to lay out on the table)

                      1) With major challenge of scoring on perimeter last season, will that put more of an emphasis on getting the ball inside more to big men with more options in the frontcourt this year?

                      2) If the season started today, what would be the distribution of minutes at the PG position? Will Walt play the same role as last year?

                      3) Aside from the obvious increased depth on the roster, what do you feel will be the biggest improvement from last season to this one?

I will be in meetings this afternoon and unable to attend the chat.

                        Thanks guys.

                        1. With the incoming players and now that you have been with the returning players for over a year, can we expect to see different offensive schemes this year?

                        2. What aspect about MVC competition surprised you the most last year?

                        3. How do you delegate responsibilities among your assistant coaches?
ie: game planning, recruiting, game management, etc

                        4. Will Walt be the starting PG this year? If so list reasons why.
                        Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

Unfortunately, I have to attend an all day meeting and won't be able to attend.

I have one (well, 3 in 1) question:

Last season, outside shooting was one of our biggest deficiencies, which made it tough to come back last in games. Was this addressed in the off-season, and if so, how? Who do you expect to show the greatest improvement?

                          Thanks!
