Putting 25lbs. on Shayok will only help him as he will be a better power forward then a small forward wing type player because of his lack of outside shooting skills, getting him closer to the basket should also help our offensive rebounding as a team, he appears to be a hard worker which will help him in switching to this position, expect for him to have a great season in his new position as I believe it is a better fit for him and the team.

Any of you have insights if bulked up SHAYOK has also increased his basketball skills? Where do you think he'll fit in this year? I can't wait to see him, and I have high hopes for his season.
so did Shayok "bulk up" 40+ extra pounds of muscle or not?? At least FOUR times in his columns DAVE REYNOLDS has referred to Shayok as "bulked up" - including "impressively bulked up" and even once saying he has gone from 194 to 238lbs!
But then why does the official roster say otherwise?
First the roster lists him as 228 lbs - but last year's roster listed him as 215 lbs....so how did anyone ever come up with 45 pounds??
Second - he's definitely some bulkier in the upper body and shoulders but honestly - it doesn't look like it's all muscle.........and it doesn't seem to have helped him at all - he's slower and appears less coordinated and can't seem to get a shot off any more. Last year he averaged almost 20 minutes but this year just 5-6 minutes and last year he got off 4-5 shot attempts per game - but now averaging just one every other game or so...
If he's being bothered by nagging injuries then it's not too late to "shut him down" and not lose the entire year as injury-plagued.Last edited by tornado; 11-28-2012, 07:54 AM.

I agree tornado. I'm not sure what the reason for Shayok's decline but he definitely appears lost out there. If he's hurt (and BU values his skills over the next few years) then they should consider a redshirt. Of course, it's possible that this is all he is. Maybe the improved play of our team, and the faster pace that we're playing at, has exposed the fact that Shayok is not as good as many had hoped. Who really knows besides the coach... In Geno Ford I Trust!

I look forward to him greatly improving (in my opinion) over the next few years!???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12
