  • Team USA Basketball in trouble vs. Lithuania

wow - after looking pretty good in the 1st quarter - Team USA was then outscored 26-22 in the 2nd quarter and now holds only a slim 3 point lead early in the 4th quarter.

we are shooting horribly - 7-27 (26%) from 3-pt range and 19-31 (61%) from the FT line

our guys are getting outhustled, outrebounded, out-defended, and outworked in several aspects...
We will propbably still win but we're having to go most all the way with just the superstar starters against a bunch opf no-names Lituanians who are NCAA D-I and D-II caliber players
Linas Kleiza & Darius Songalia are the only two recognizable names and even then most who are not Bulls fans wouldn't know Songalia.

? arūnas Jasikevičius played for Maryland and was a 3 point specialist. He's a pretty good Euro type player and plays with a ton of heart.

I am embarrassed to even say "We" with this USA Men's Team.
I may be in the minority, but I'd love to see another country take the gold.
While I may root for the USA in general for the Olympics, I really couldn't care less if we win more medals than other countries. What does it matter anyways. Our country should pride itself in other ways that we're so deficient in currently, such as academics and family. Just some thoughts, but then again, I honestly lack pride for our country - there's appreciation, but pride is a stretch for me.

You certainly are not the only one in the US that dislikes basketball team. What would make you like the team better?

I overall like the team. I don't think I would make any roster changes. You could argue Melo and Iguodala, but there isn't an obviously better healthy player to take their place. The same thing could be said of Anthony Davis, but it sounds like they added him for future Oly experience.

I agree FSM. I'm not a fan of pro ball or our Olympic players but I certainly would never cheer against them. What have they done to deserve such hate? I think they have acquitted themselves admirably and with class.

            USA Basketball in Trouble

ree with the previous two posts. NOt sure what you expected of a team composed of pro players. Not even a great coach like Coach K can remake the tendencies they play with after years in the pros. But given the circumstances, they hace commited to represent our country and deserve our support. How do you feel about the women's team - after all they are also pro players?

Our women rock! They have not lost since 1992!

The women are more dominant. Look at some of the results:

                USA 90, Angola 38
                USA 114, China 66

The closest game was a 27 point win over the Czech Republic.

I think the USA men's team, especially Durant played fairly well beating a decent Argentina fairly well.

What impressed me the most in the Women's victory over China was that the Chinese women NEVER stopped hustling, and played a fierce defense at the end of the game when the US women were playing keep-away.
I've never seen anything like that before. Kudos to the women though, who were REALLY impressive! Wonder how much last year's BU men's team would have lost to them!

Our Braves' teams have been great when it comes to being down by double-digits in the last couple minutes/final possession and our guys playing hard until the final buzzer. Too bad we've had so many opportunities to see this in the past few seasons...and at times in the Coach Mo era.

Very sad the way many kids don't have a choice to determine what they want to do in life...and then mistreated for not performing well in something they may not even like.
