Personally, I think most fans will be OK with a new logo. But FWIH these re-branding plans go far beyond just a logo change.

More popular (good) franchises don't need to change their logo often/ever, but it can create more sales in new and throwback jerseys especially when done well. The Marlins are the most recent example I can think of where a franchise completely rebranded without moving. It seemed to be popular in Miami at the beginning of the season.
I'm completely fine with rebranding Bradley. I don't have an emotional attachment to our logo, (lack-of) mascot, or jersey. A change away from Braves or a color change would be the only things that would concern me and would take a lot of convincing.I can do all things through pasta, which strengthens me.

They did actually move from a suburb (Miami Gardens, where Sun Life/Joe Robbie stadium was located) to their new stadium located in Miami. And I think I have seen it stated that they wanted to promote that change and try to emphasize their closer connection to the city and the Hispanic community, so their radical makeover of their logo was intentional.

I'm not dismissing them at all. But the mascot and new logo are not targeted for that group. It is targeted towards the 30somethings with children. It's about having some gear that people would actually want to pay for. It is about building the next generation of blue hairs to support the university after this generation is gone in 10-15 years. Trot out a big fuzzy something or other and get the kids excited. Get them wearing tshirts with the mascot/logo on it.

getting back to the original topic...
can there be too many "overhauls"...can we be making too many massive changes here and there to things that just aren't that badly broken to need massive overhauls??
..too many different areas that sweeping changes are made, especially if BU is currently in a down-cycle, before all these changes are going to start getting blamed?

I find it interesting that so many people are opposed to/afraid of change. Some of the best things around right now are products of massive changes.
How many of us use iPhones, iPad, or iMacs? If Apple hadn't put itself through a major overhaul in the late 90s, we wouldn't have any of those things. That's just one example, but the point is clear. Sometimes change is good thing.

you make a good point amettrick..but people do dislike change...
I am always puzzled about one topic...
that despite the massive changes that are mostly for the good...
all those things you mentioned that make our lives easier and more work-free..
things, inventions, & changes that move us around, wash our dishes, cut our lawns, and do all kinds of things for us and make everything better...
and yet in study after study after study -- we find that people who have all those things to make their lives BETTER..
instead judge their lives to be WORSE!!!
It sure does cause everyone to look back and say "things were better back then" or those were the happy days...
Nearly six in 10 Americans are currently dissatisfied with the opportunity for the next generation of Americans to live better than their parents, although half are satisfied with the opportunity to get ahead through hard work.
Lastly - whoever makes our branding decisions - we ought to somehow connect more with Chicago and find a way to get the name BRADLEY in the minds of more people in the bigger population areas and in the recruits' minds.
I know it's a tough job but SMSU sure hit the jackpot by "rebranding" themselves as Missouri State..
and UIS did a bit of the same when they were "Sangamon State".
How 'bout opening a campus IN Chicago -- kinda like SIU having a campus in Springfield and U of I putting one in Chicago

The logo change is well past due.

there have been some other things that Valley schools have done recently that might be in this same realm....how many of these are what you think BU is trying to do...?
-ISU has altered their Redbird design ever so slightly but it never changes very much...
-Drake changed their logo and went with just the "D"
http://www.custompokercloths.com/pic...bulldogs_1.jpg --->>> http://www.drake.edu/magazine/wp-con.../go-drake1.jpg
-Evansville's "Ace Purple" gambler logo has been altered a few times to make him look a bit friendlier
...and didn't it once get modified way back to get rid of the cigar he smoked and gun he carried??...
-Wichita also changed their WuShock mascot
-Indiana State brought back their gorgeous light blue uni's
-and SIU has trended towards calling themselves Dawgs moreso than Salukis lately..perhaps because of their on-court personas...

JMM28 is right on. This isn't about the old timers. Its weird to talk about mortality when discussing logos and branding and basketball - but that group isn't going to be around in 20-25 years (and I'm in no hurry to get rid of you).
This is about appealing to a younger demo altogether...especially guys like myself with a couple of kids under the age of 15.
I've seen the new logo, font, and branding.
Classy, Old-school, and traditional are the words that I used to describe it when asked. You guys will like it...chill out.
As for the "other changes" - I think that the direction they are contemplating is very cool. Gives Bradley, our athletic teams, alumni, and community something that we can all rally behind - again, very cool.
