This is about appealing to a younger demo altogether...especially guys like myself with a couple of kids under the age of 15.

I've seen the new logo, font, and branding.

Classy, Old-school, and traditional are the words that I used to describe it when asked. You guys will like it...chill out.

As for the "other changes" - I think that the direction they are contemplating is very cool. Gives Bradley, our athletic teams, alumni, and community something that we can all rally behind - again, very cool.
I like the way you think...

I know they will find some support for the new ideas but....
a couple interesting comments I have seen on the discussion boards...that go directly against what KW says is going to happen...
people saying they will stop donating if they drop the "S" in Braves and people saying they hate the gargoyle idea

I love the gargoyle idea! If someone cannot see the simplicity in that idea and the ability to merchandise it then they probably would want to see the 30 second clock disappear.

Much like squirrels, I hope we aren't under the impression that BU is the only school with gargoyles. Not saying I am opposed to it, I just don't want people to think that BU is the only school with gargoyles on its buildings. I imagine most people realize this.

This has to be the most rediculous idea I have heard, dropping the Braves name which has been there forever is a huge mistake and if they think fans want a Gargoyle I think they need to check with the entire fan base on this as I think this makes no common sense and it appears that the new administration is trying to erase Bradleys history , do not let them get away with this because there will be no going back .

I agree. It's a potential merchandising gold mine.

I can't say I like the nickname or mascot of Gargoyle, but it does have 1 thing in its favor- there is not a single college and at level that has a Gargoyle as it's nickname. In fact, there is not even a junior college, community college, or college of any kind that I can find anywhere in the US or Canada that has a gargoyle as a nickname.

I am also having a hard time finding even a high school with the official nickname Gargoyles, but since there are so many high schools, it is likely there is one or more. But here is an interesting school fairly close to Peoria- University Laboratory HS in Urbana, Illinois.- their nickname is the Illineks, which somehow refers to a gargoyle, and the gargoyle is the unofficial mascot of the school and appears on their sweatshirts and apparel.

I like the Gargoyle as a mascot. If Brave is the nickname. That is if it is the horror movie scary looking Gargole. Some look cartoonish. I wouldn't be as big of fan of that.

I don't really want to be called the Bradley Gargoles though. I don't like it as a nickname.

I'm a fan of the gargoyles in any capacity such as logo and/or as a mascot and BU BRAND improvement. This is about improving our teams, revenues, and getting a name and merchandise that appeals to the high school kids on up. What we have now is junior high merchandise and trade name logos relative to the big boys and girls. Its about time this change occurs.

As far as the team improvement (totally unrelated), I suspect all the coaches know that they have around/about 4 years to improve the program or ELSE. We should see improvement this fall. The BU Ladies Cross team will see exceptional improvement vying as best in the MVC with the Men somewhat behind in position. The crippling barrier of no Men's Track Team has been lifted, opening up higher rated recruits. Hope the injury bug hasn't hit BU soccer more than it already has...DeRose will make do though as always...

                        Go For It BU!!!

Bradley will not be called the Gargoyles or anything similar. It is just a mascot/secondary logo concept.

For anyone who has questions or comments, I have heard that the AD welcomes communication with fans and alumni.

If this is the case, I can go along with things. All I ask is for a cool logo, decent mascot, and nothing to do with squirrels!
