With JP, WE, and NW, BU will now have up to 15 opportunities per game to make it tough for opposing guards to blow by our perimeter players and go inside uncontested for lay ups (vs 4-6).

Snell needs a new stat tag, or, repurpose an existing stat tag of his....

"KABOOM" should be used in the future when an opposing guard drives the lane and ends up eating his shot, or, better yet, on his butt!

JP and AT were the only thing last year defending the basket inside and AT was more of a shot alterer than a hammer.... JP had to watch his fouls cause once he was gone, all BU had was AT....

Speaking of defense, players with improved defensive ability around the perimeter, particularly at the top of the circle/free throw line, is the best way to eliminate waltzes down the lane for lay-ups or in close dishes to forwards crashing the lane from the wings for dunks/lay ups.

Hopefully BU will get that with this year's perimeter players, or, next year's two transfer guards.

Not to say we play like a bunch of thugs, but just tougher mentally and physically.
Home losses by 30+ points should really get under your skin as a players...at least it does for the majority of us fans!

I recall our best basketball last year was a relentlessly tough defense (vs. UNI, Indy St., ISU-red), which gave us opportunities to win. Coach Ford needs to get the team on board with this mentality EVERY GAME. I'm putting the accountability on him first and foremost this year, because now he knows what it takes to be competitive in a Valley game.
No body likes to lose period, 50 points or 1 point. Laying out and playing tough are 2 different things. We need someone like Matt Salley, who played tough but didn't have to lay somebody out. Laying somebody out is playing dirty and as far down as our program has gotten we don't need that reputation also
What part of illegal don't you understand?

I agree but we also need to let the other teams know that coming into Carver is not an easy task. The one part of MS I liked was his toughness. I know I'd think twice about driving the ball to the hoop with him around. DI is a physical game and we need to learn how to give a little bit more out.

Thanks SFP. Thought that was obvious.

There are tough fouls and there are dirty fouls, we need to play a lot tougher inside and not let teams get easy dunks on us, we need to get a reputation of players not wanting to attempt dunks on us because we are willing to committ hard yet not dirty fouls.

              Nice comeback Chico.

Though I don't get how your obvious comment applies...other than copying what another poster wrote in the same thread.

Just thanking a poster who sort of agreed with me as the other poster did. Just having fun until the season finally gets here.
