  • 2012-13 BU MBB Team To Be Much Improved Vs 2011-12

Just looking at the rosters from 2012-13 vs 2011-12, I would be shocked if BU isn't much better...

Bell, Ka'Darryl -- Crawford, Jalen -- Eastman, Jake -- Egolf, Will
Knezevic, Milos -- Lemon, Jr., Walt -- Pickett, Tyshon -- Prosser, Jordan
Shayok, Shayok -- Simms-Edwards, Dyricus -- Wells, Nate

    VS

Brown, Taylor -- Crawford, Jalen -- Eastman, Jake -- Hodges, Devon
Knezevic, Milos -- Lemon, Jr., Walt -- Prosser, Jordan -- Shayok, Shayok
Simms-Edwards, Dyricus -- Stewart, Donivine -- Thompson, Anthony

I believe Bell, Pickett, Wells & Egolf > Brown, Hodges, Stewart & Thompson...

BOLD = EXTRA YEAR EXPERIENCE FOR 2011-12 FR AND SO
RED = ADDITION TO 2012-13 LINE UP

I agree 'Zona. We should be better than the previous year but will still be hard pressed to finish above .500, IMO. All I know is we'd better see more heart and effort from this group... NO MORE 50 POINT BLOWOUTS!!! In fact, if that ever happens again on our home court we'd better see someone from the opposing team laid out!

Well, unfortunately I don't agree. Maybe a slight improvement. If the two transfers that are sitting out could play then I'd agree. I think Pickett and Brown are close to a swap. But I still don't see our scoring. We should rebound better though. I sure hope everything works out with Pickett's summer school though.

Wow. Lay someone out. That's a good reputation to have.

Coach Ford has already been telling some people that he believes this team is much better than last year's team, and would beat them by double digits! Let's hope he is right!

Pretty simple as Brown never turned out to be the player that everyone expected and Thompson spent 5 years to be a decent shot blocker in his 5th season, not really hard to replace those big accomplishments plus team chemistry was not good last year so I have to believe it will be better minus those 2.

OK in short they have to be better! Now we'll be much better if someone steps up and can be that shooter, another ball handler and most of all if one of our bigs can be a defensive present in the paint. The following year it looks like we get two of the three things we need.

Sorry, I do not expect much improvement over last year. Maybe we finish 9th in the Valley instead of 10. I think it will be interesting to see what place the MVC coaches pick for Bradley when they meet for the preseason media day in St Louis. I am optimistic for the following year 2013-2014. It would be nice to be a .500 team in the Valley.

I think what B4L was getting at is that we'd better not lose by 50 in the fashion we did last year in those blowouts. Laying someone out means we take a thumping personally and at least we play "tough" instead of sissy D that lets the opposition score at will. Too many buckets in the paint - we need to unleash some hard fouls so they will think twice about coming inside.
Not to say we play like a bunch of thugs, but just tougher mentally and physically.
Home losses by 30+ points should really get under your skin as a players...at least it does for the majority of us fans!

I recall our best basketball last year was a relentlessly tough defense (vs. UNI, Indy St., ISU-red), which gave us opportunities to win. Coach Ford needs to get the team on board with this mentality EVERY GAME. I'm putting the accountability on him first and foremost this year, because now he knows what it takes to be competitive in a Valley game.

The attitude heading into last year's season was...We have this year to learn a new system and it's going to be rough. Let's just survive and take it day by day and get to know who we are.

Heading into this season, I think the attitude has shifted to...We know who we are and where we need to get. We demand such and such from every player on the roster. Leadership will be a must, and preparation & practices will be tougher. We are tired of losing, so let's push each other to get better every day. We know it's going to be rough, but we're going to be ready for battle.

I don't foresee any 30 point blowouts even if we go through shooting woes. I don't see a .500 season either, but I think we'll enjoy this team a whole lot more than last with a stronger attitude & energy, and won't feel hopeless like at certain points last year. I hope I'm right!
