Not to minimize this tragic event, but the front page of the Tribune on the web currently shows their top 5 headlines (all posted or updated within the past hour) are about shootings and murders that have happened in Chicago.
Prior to these 5 murders last night, there had already been 37 murders in Chicago in the month of July alone- now that total is 42 for this month, and the city is on track for a total of over 500 murders this year.
Yep, Chicago reached 250 homicides in mid June. 1st time since 2003 when they finished with 601 homicides. They are at about 300 homicides now, with NYC at only 235 and Los Angeles at 170.
