I was forwarded this by a friend but it describes my feelings very much. I don't know who the writer is nor do I know what their level of involement is in the university but I think it's important for those who aren't around to at least have the opportunity to see these type of opinions...

wow - that's certainly a pretty wild blog - written by a guy who calls himself "Bradley Squirrel"........... maybe it doesn't even belong here -- it seems to have little to so with athletics but I will leave that to the moderators...but watch the accusations fly as to who is behind it - but I have never seen that blog before. (it was posted July 20)
All I really care about in this discussion is Bradley basketball...
that blog appears to address "campus-wide...mismanagement" which I think is more than overblown......

Really any position that doesn't have tenure...
is a very good reason for change to take place. I have heard that a few "old school" Deans were replaced with younger, well-connected, and progressive Deans to allow BU's vision of change become a reality. The Engineering and Business College convergence is an excellent example of good change that is taking place. Those faculty and staff that are unwilling or unable to accept change should be replaced... and they have... and they are. Kudos to BU! Onward and upward!

Uhhhhhh.... I just transferred from Valparaiso to get AWAY from this? Please don't tell me I should have gone with Loyola-Chicago..... I've heard things about the current President but I really don't care as long as I get a quality education........ At the end, of the storm, there's a golden sky. And the sweet silver song of the lark. Walk on, through the wind, walk on, through the rain, though your dreams be tossed, and blown. Walk on, Walk on with hope in your hearts, and you'll never walk alone!
I'm behind you 100% Bradley Braves, You'll Never Walk Alone! BEAT STATE!

BU still ranks high in average test scores and continues to attract a record umber of valedictorians. One weakness from an admissions standpoint is the abundance of regional and in-state students that attend BU today; in the past BU had a much more national feel. I have been told that rectifying this is a goal of Pres. Glasser's as she attempts to mold BU into a university of national distinction.

I'm not going to get in a long drawn out arguement about this. I just wanted to post that this blog is only confirming a lot of what I've heard. Each is absolutely free to draw their own conclusions. But we've replaced almost our entire upper echelon of academic staff, our athletic department has had almost 100% turnover, we've lowered our academic admission standards. Maybe it is all in alignment with our desired direction, and maybe every coach and administrator had to go. Or maybe theres more to it when a person has to absolutely clean house at an instituion that was by no means in a poor place... I genuinely hope it is the former, but this is hardly the first person to express discontent with the new president.
I do find it laughable that some on here will criticize a president up and down for athletic turnover but academic turnover is no big deal...

I don't see any real criticism here -- just high expectations that ALL BU fans ought to have -- we want to see consistently winning programs and we do NOT want to be at the FAR, far bottom of the league in every sport.
BUT that blog was obviously written by someone who works at Bradley and has some familiarity with the academic comings and going - and I haven't a clue about that end of it - so I cannot comment as SFP has asked me to do...
I think BU is an outstanding academic institution but of course I am biased....

I have expressed my opinion on this issue a couple times in the past. I am not looking to get into an argument. If one steps back and looks at everything that has happened at Bradley over the past several years you definitely see a pattern. I have said it before that many people associated with Bradley for a long time, and not just in athletics, have been ran off or fired. People in many different departments: housing, security, admissions, faculty, fundraising, athletics, media, support staff, etc. These were very good people/employees who did a good job at Bradley. They helped make it the great school it is. These people had tremendous loyalty to Bradley and represented the school well not only in their field but in this community. They did their job well.
Changes were made for various reasons...... reorganization, downsizing, new requirements, etc. I get that. But many were made just for the sake of change or other questionable reasons. It is not surprising that someone like this blogger would question the new direction of the university. Is Bradley better now? Is it going a better direction?
I do know one thing. The community has noticed because many successful, visible, vocal, or high profile employees are gone. These people had lots of friends, connections, neighbors, etc who did not agree with the changes. Based on people I speak to, the local opinion of Bradley has changed.
