  • **Next Game BU vs. Tennessee Tech

Tennessee Tech finished 19-12 last year, 13-7 in the Ohio Valley Conference.
Tennessee Tech is located in Cookeville, TN.

They are 2-2 this year, 1-2 against DI opponents, and various ranking services have them about #99 presently in RPI, with a #82 SOS.

The game starts at 8:05PM and will be on WMBD radio.

Bradley played Tennessee Tech in the Bracket Buster game last year (Feb. 18/06).
In that game Patrick O'Bryant almost got the 2nd triple double in Bradley's all time history, as POB had 19 points, 16 rebounds, and 9 blocks.
Bradley raced to a relatively easy 77-62 win, with Ruffin getting 12 pts, 5 assists, Cellus 14 pts, Boogie 16 points off the bench.
Tennessee Tech's Belton Rivers had 15 points off the bench, and Amadi McKenzie had 16 and 7 rebs.

Bradley has won the only two meeting ever between the two teams, with the other time being 12/16/72, a 100-83 win at Robertson Fieldhouse, when Seymouor Reed had 33 points/10 rebs.

    Here is their athletic website:

    Here is their schedule:

They lost at Kansas State and Missisippi, then won at Wisconsin-Milwaukee and won early in the season against a non-DI.

    and their roster:

On paper, they should be fairly strong as 4 of their top 7 players return from last year.
Their top player is Anthony Fisher, a 6-2 junior guard who last year averaged 13 pts, 3 assists. Fisher is averaging 17.5ppg so far this year with 4 assists/gm, and they also have Belton Rivers, averaging 18.5ppg, with Amadi McKenzie getting 13.8ppg/11rpg.

Tenn. Tech has been picked variously from 2nd to 4th in the Ohio Valley according to different preseason previews, and both Rivers and Belton have gotten some 2nd team preseason All Conf. mention.

Tennessee Tech has not made an NCAA appearance since 1963.

Tennessee Tech's message board exists, but it's virtually nonexistent. There hasn't been a post on it in over a year:

The OVC has a board for all its schools, but it still doesn't have much, only one post this year.

    PS---extra trivia question....
As noted above, Patrick O'Bryant almost got a tripple double against Tenn Tech last year, so
give me the name of the ONLY other Bradley player to ever get a triple double?

Cal Criddle had a triple double vs. St. Louis on Feb. 28, 1970. He had 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists in a Bradley win 82-74 win over the Billikens.

    What do I win?

06- I didn't place a value on getting the right answer...but indeed you should be rewarded for your fine Braves-knowledge.

So PM me with your address and I will send you out a prize worthy of your accomplishment.

Didn't we beat these guys last season?

DR must mean we haven't won on the road against this conference since....

I saw that, too, but in the previous sentence the article seems to be limiting the discussion to road games againt the OVC, so I think that's what he meant.

Saying this is the longest stretch since 1955 of not having a road game, actually is because of a very, very GOOD factor. It is mainly because of playing so deep into the MVC Tournament and the NCAA, that Bradley added SIX extra non-road games in there that we might not have ordinarily had in off years.

Dave Reynolds also says that Tenn Tech returns "two starters".
But that is somewhat subject to where you draw the line.
Only one player who started more than half their games returns, Francis Kibore (started 31 games), but six other players return who started at least once. Their four graduating seniors accounted for 86 starts between them ( of 155 starts they'd have had in their 31 games last year).

Also, although technically accurate, Tenn Tech's 86 ppg average is inflated a bit because of their 110 point scoring outburst against a weak DII opponent, BLUEFIELD COLLEGE.
They average 78ppg against other DI's, while giving up an average of 85ppg to their DI opponents.

Here are the Tennessee Tech game notes about Bradley BUT!!!
Don't print it out unless you want to use 37 sheets of paper....as this is the longest pregame notes I have ever seen!

Tech's coach Mike Sutton has coached in the MVC, while on Tubby Smith's staff as an assistant at Tulsa. He was also on Tubby Smith's staff as an assistant at Kentucky in 1998, along with ex-Bradley assistant George Barber (now head coach at Greenville College).
