so many of these 2013 kids are going to be making their decisions shortly - within the next several weeks or early in the school year - for the very reasons Nate Taphorn just listed...
If we are just now offering kids who already have 8, 10, and 12 offers and who have already made visits and had other coaches trailing them for months, then we might just be a little behind and need to get going.

As most people on this board know, I have been one of the harshest critics of Geno and his staff. I am looking for (and hoping to see) improvement from the staff this year! To be honest, it really isn't fair to judge Geno's recruiting abilities until at least year 3.

No. It sounds to me like he's ripping Geno. I get what he's saying though DC. BU has not fielded a winning team for a while now... And it appears we'll probably have to be patient for at least another year.

and if we are waiting for a winning season I'm speculating we may have to extend this for another year. I hope not but odds are not in our favor. I really ope this team jells and finds the will and chemistry to play like a team that has everything to prove and will prove us all wrong!

When I want to blame or rip, I usually tend toward satire...

Just think it's awfully difficult for a second year coach to get top mid major talent in until there is some spark/turnaround in the team's W-L record. Particularly at a school who typically won't pull punches on academics/bad behavior for inbound recruits.

Having said that, BU has had success in the past with recruiting JC players who have a good 2nd year and are under the radar, same with HS Seniors who have break out years, or, who are coming off injuries and have been left behind by Majors/Mid Majors.

It's a long time to 2013 season and >.500 in the Valley in 2012/2013 would help BU in 2003/2004 recruiting...

I dont agree. In many cases, new coaches land some of their best recruits in their first or second full recruiting classes, despite their record. An aggressive new coach with a lot of immediate playing time to offer should have no trouble getting quality recruits to visit and commit, especially in a year like the loaded 2013 class. And especially considering the fabulous new athletic favilities now available.
Jim Les best recruiting classes came in his second and third years, after coming off the 20 loss team he inherited.

I'm upset too that Bradley Basketball is seeing some it's darkest days. That doesn't mean I blindly, ignorantly, and wrongly criticize the coach who has only been here for 1 season. You're entitled to your opinion but if that is it, I suggest you keep it to yourself because it's embarrassing.

Geno has had some success before so we'll see. Just like when Les was hired some were hoping he wouldn't succeed so they could say I told you so...it's the same with Geno......
