Jim Thome traded to the Baltimore Orioles

Jim Thome has been traded to the Baltimore Orioles.
Jim Thome has been unhappy with his limited playing time with the Philadephia Phillies, and the Phillies are mired in last place in the NL East.
The Orioles are interested in Jim as a DH, which would mean he'd play nearly every day. This is great for Jim. He'll have a great chance to pass Sammy Sosa and be all alone in 7th place on the all-time on the MLB HR list. He may have a chance to catch the #6 player Ken Griffey, Jr. at 630 HR.

I'm an O's fan and I'm happy with the deal. He's a good guy to have around their young team, looks like he can still hit, boy can they use a decent bat and they gave up very little. I just hope the O's brass do not think they can really contend through October yet, with that team. They could use a number 1 starter to start off with. I hope his signing is more of a stabilizing force in the locker room and the lineup then anything else.

In his first game back in the American League today, Jim went 0-4 with 2 strikeouts in Baltimore's 6-2 loss to the Cleveland Indians. Hopefully, better days are ahead.
