It is interesting to discuss but since, as time goes on, there are fewer and fewer people who ever saw or even knew about the older players....
like Unruh, Squeaky, Bobby Joe, Gene Morse, Chet Walker, McMillon, Cable, Joe Allen, etc...it might well be that talk like this on message boards may be all we have of what the fans thought of those old timers......

In fact - I just ran across this old discussion we had a couple years ago on BU's Willie Betts...

I also just ran across this guy who is in the news currently as a coach...and he's a great footballer at
Bradley who also was a two-sport athlete that played BASKETBALL as well...
    Bob Caress...

Ernie Thompson was one of the most entertaining players ever for the Braves. I could go on and on, but ----.
Anthony Manual set a record his junior season that likely will never be broken at Bradley. He averaged 12.0 assists per game, and had 373 assists in a single season, 1987-88! That average ranks 2nd all time to Avery Johnson, who happened to put up 399 assists and an average of 13.3 the same season (1987-8 for Southern Univ.
He also holds the single game BU record of 21 assists in one game (12/19/87 vs. UC-Irvine), which is one short of the NCAA single-game record.

isn't it a weird coincidence that Bradley's all time scoring records were set in 1987-88 and that very same season Anthony Manuel set the all time assist records!!

but you know - now that the basketball program no longer puts out a yearbook or media guide, these facts about the history and the older players from Bradley will be scarcer to find.

That's why I have kept the final press guide.

I'm sure you're aware that much of this information is available on BradleyBraves.com -- http://www.bradleybraves.com/SportSe...98&SPSID=25965

However, I agree with you tornado that BU could do a better job of making this information more readily available and easier to find. In addition, I cannot find any listing of all-time BU records listed on that website or in the BU "Prospectus". It may be there somewhere but I can't find it.

Oops, I missed this. But, as I stated, BU could do a much better job of making this info more useful and easier to find.

Very much agree Chico. I think a fairer list for all sports is to go by players for specific decades.

I have always been amazed that Bradley does not devote part of their website to the history of the program, team pictures as well as pictures of significant players, events, school records, and seasonal records.
                  Attention Bobby Parker.
                  Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™
