2012 IBCA All Star games in Bloomington Saturday 6/23

The Illinois Basketball Coaches All Star games were tonight (Sat. 6/23) in the Shirk Center on the campus of Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington.

The Class 1A/2A South All Stars beat the North All Stars in 2 overtimes 121-116. Former BU recruit Tanner Williams of Class 1A Orion was the leading scorer for the game with 27 points, and was named the MVP of the game for the North.

In the Class 3A/4A game which concluded late, the North beat the South 116-96.

Normal West's Austin Stewart scored 19 points and was named the MVP for the 3A/4A South.

The IBCA games have historically been great fun for the fans with future NBA'ers like Evan Turner amd future college stars
(McCamey, Chasson Randle, Mike Tisdale) almost every year.....but...
this season, the pool of talent in Illinois in the Class of 2012 was notably less, and even the most talented seniors
either chose not to play or were inexplicably dressed but glued to the bench as if being disciplined (??)...

Not one of the Top 10 rated seniors in the state was there and it appears that the highest rated kids were Mike La Tulip & Tanner Williams who some have around the #20 spot in Illinois

What if they had a Major League Baseball All Star Game or an NBA All Star Game and not one of the top 20 players in the entire league showed up?
It would be pretty disappointing and hard to watch...

As noted, Normal West's Austin Stewart was the South MVP and scored 19 points. He is committed to Central Michigan.
East Moline United’s Tavian Johnson (committed to Augustana) was the leading scorer with 28 points and was the North MVP.
