  • NCAA's new APR (academic) data

Bradley is again near the top of the Valley although all Valley basketball APR's are pretty good...

BU, Creighton, Drake, ISU, & UNI are all in a virtual tie at 970-977
SIU is at 908, MSU 902

13 of Bradley's 14 sports have 970 or better while several (WGolf, WCC, WTennis) have 1000, and some in the 990's

NOT one of Bradley's programs even comes close to provoking any penalties.

In fact the same can be said for the rest of the MVC - everyone did good! - Congrats!!
Several schools did receive serious penalties including post-season bans (Texas A&M-CC, Towson, UAPB, UConn, Toledo,

This is one area where BU's administration and athletic department have been highly successful. Now, we just need to find a way to add more winning on the court/field to this winning in the classroom.

          a couple things of note...

-first - every player that this data involves was a recruit of the former head coach - so some credit for the repeated and notable successes in academics and in kids on the basketball team making the honor roll goes to some who are no longer here...

-second - UC-Riverside is also on that list of teams that has received an NCAA post-season ban for poor APR....thus for the 2nd year in a row - the UC-Davis basketball team WILL make their 8-team post-season tournament....something that nobody had thought was going to be possible given the state that program was in.

The league is adding Hawaii in basketball next season, so it's a 10 team league with 9 eligible postseason teams. Not assured

That said, everyone and their mother thought Les would easily be in the top-half of that conference long-term. C'mon, man. That's a bit not warranted.

After taking over one of the worst and least athletic teams in the country, and with no tradition or history? C'mon, man, even his detractors would have to admit that would be quite an accomplishment in his 2nd year.

Jim Les had a stellar record while at Bradley of recruiting good STUDENT-athletes. That point can not be argued.

UC-Davis actually has a very rich athletic history... It's just not in D1. It would be nice to see Les turn them into a D1 team to be reckoned with... Just as long as Bradley is always even better.

OK, let me rephrase that..."After taking over one of the worst and least athletic teams ...with no tradition or history in Division I?"

Here is their record in the 8 years since joining Division I. They have never come close to achieving a winning record--
