The coach had more great things to say about Nate on the blog again.

the guy who really makes the biggest difference on winning or losing is Nate. He is so big and causes so many problems for the opposing defense. He is also doing a great job rebounding and getting us into transition.

Nate was also involved in what the coach called the play of the game.

The play of the game was a beauty. Nate rebounded a miss and passed the ball to Ryan who took off down the floor. Nate sprinted the floor and Ryan passed the ball off the backboard to Nate who finished with a two handed slam.

Nate seems to be a promising recruit for us.
Jimmy could have had one of his finest recruiting classes last year if.....

Abell (most of us know his potential)
Stewart (would have gotten a lot more P.T. I believe and been pretty solid PG)
        Wells
        Harris
(the last 2 could have really helped us out on the boards)

Just pondering what might have been, but we can't look back too much though. On the road to recovery!

I think you're 25% right. Abell would have been a stud.

I look for Nate to start to really meaningfully contribute in a couple of seasons. Regarding Stewart and Harris, let me know when they make an impact somewhere.

Right now, I may only be 25% right, but like you said, NW will contribute...and I believe in a BIG way in a couple seasons. And I am encouraged he may get 8-10 minutes this season, giving us maybe 4 ppg and a few boards in that span. It does take time to develop a mid-major 7 footer. I think we got a diamond in the rough with Nate.

As far as DS, I don't believe he got a fair shake last season. I'm not judging Geno - just didn't fit with his style I suppose. I think he would have been a slower version of Marcello at the point, but pretty steady.

I have no idea how SH would have fit in - I've never seen him play or any highlights, but from some posters on here, he was the kind of player we needed - a workhorse on the glass and just scrappy all-around.

There's no need to argue I guess 'cause we'll never know, but I just feel Jim's would-be recruiting class last year would have been pretty special in the long run.

The logic is pretty clear to me. A player coming off a 2+ year layoff is simply more susceptible to this specific injury than other players. That is a well recognized fact. A professional training staff would have had a plan to work him into playing gradually to avoid this. We'll never know what difference it might have made, but IMO, it could have made a huge difference.
Like I said, the other injuries were not due to any specific identifying factors that could have been avoided. Perhaps if there were, there could have been some adjustments made to try to prevent them.

I'm sure the logic is clear to you, as it's your argument. I wouldn't expect you to believe that your own opinion was illogical.

That just wouldn't be logical of me, now would it?

Logic is not up to each individual. Logic is a science based on facts and scientific reasoning-

                  From Merriam-Webster dictionary-definition of LOGIC
a science that deals with the principles and criteria of validity of inference and demonstration : the science of the formal principles of reasoning
a science that deals with the principles and criteria of validity of inference and demonstration : the science of the formal principles of reasoning; a branch or variety of logic; a branch of semiotics; especially : syntactics… See the full definition

The logical thing to do would be to see what a highly trained expert says. Nearly every source available regarding ACL tears reports that:
"Causes: No one single cause accounts for this injury. ACL injuries can be related to extrinsic factors and intrinsic factors. Numerous studies document the fact that poor levels of conditioning correlate directly with increased levels of injury. Research also has demonstrated that improved conditioning results in reduced numbers of injuries."
Texas Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Group is a nationally known Orthopaedic Surgery clinic in Dallas, Texas. We have three Orthopaedic Surgeons, one Interventional Spine Specialist, and a Sports Medicine and Concussion Specialist who deal with the special needs of athletes of all ages.

That is what I am basing my opinion on. We can never know for sure, since he chose not to come to Bradley. But the presumption that such an injury would have been less likely due to better conditioning is quite logical.

I could make an argument that Sean would have been more likely to be hit by a bus at Bradley. Peoria has quite a bit more buses in service than Yuba City. Thus we can't be sure that Sean would have played at all last year.

I won't even get into the idea of bear attacks.

Arenas, practice facilities, private jets, too stringent academics, forget that all that.

From now on recruits are going to be choosing schools based on the frequency of bear attacks!

How embarrassing for me to have been so ignorant.

What's the logical likelihood of Harris ever being any good at all now after his injury? I'm sure there's a logical assumption to be made there as well.

Remy Abell's game is really exploding this summer. He keeps getting better and better. His work ethic is exciting and productive.

And Crean does not just tweet about all his players to hype them and try to sell tickets.
Here is his Twitter page. Crean has been watching his players work out recently, and Remy Abell is the only player Crean mentions by name or has anything positive to say about-

Indiana Coach Tom Crean continues to be impressed with the progress of Remy Abell. He's squatting 500 lbs, and measures a 39" vertical.

Today Remy squated 500 lbs. That is very BIG TIME! He has a 39" vertical. Tomorrow they test bench press x185 . Our guys are driven.
