Don't Fields and Grier count? Or are you counting them as 2012's?

Fields is not a scorer, which is what this team needs most. And I like Grier, and he will be a nice addition to this team, but do you think he is a "stud player"? He was barely recruited despite spending a couple years in prep schools.
But I was referring to the 4 scholarships we will have for 2013 recruits. This team will have some major holes to fill with the loss of Will, DSE, Jake, and Milos, and we will need more than role players to make a move up the MVC.

Totally agree with most of your post. Fields and Grier good place to start but not "studs" by any means. Not sure if they're difference makers either but I think better then what we have now. We need to hit a home run with the 4 scholarships available. Should not be to hard to replace since not losing much. Only way to get better is to replace the players we're losing with better ones. Bottom line.

That is pretty much the way I feel. Although I think I feel Fields is a little better than you guys do. I agree he won't help without some shooters or scorers surrounding him. But I think he would be a very good point guard if surrounded with the right players.

I agree LC that we need to get a difference maker at the 3 or 4 position. Like you, I also think everyone is underestimating the impact that Fields will have. He is the real deal who will thrive in the MVC and make everyone around him better... He is a STUD point guard!

I've heard that Fields will remind people of Willie Scott.

Until I see Fields and Grier play I cannot evaluate how good they are yet, I do know that we are losing 4 players and it is important to get 4 highly skilled players if we expect to be able to challenge Creighton or Wichita in the near future, my hope is we get at least 3 guys that are 6-7 or bigger and 1 6-4 or bigger shooter , this next recruiting class could be the deciding factor in whether or not this staff can bring us a big winner.

Nothing at all against these guys, but I really do not consider the departures of Will, Jake, and Milos to be "major holes". More like opportunities to get players of a higher skill level.

I agree Old Coach. Fields was more highly acclaimed and recruited than Willie was and has the potential to go down as one of BU's best point guards in the past 25 years. If he's 75% of the player as Willie we will be very happy. Now, we just need to find Fields a finisher or two.

I couldn't have said it any better.

Seems we won't know what BU/GF will have to work with in 2013-14 till much later..

Suspect late blooming seniors, injured prospects who fall out of scholarships, developing JC players and BCS transfers will continue to play a role in BU recruiting until BU can show some success on the floor which merits high school talent to come.

Also think the improved BU MBB facilities were just a minimum prerequisite, not a big determining factor, for trying to land talent.

Need more BU alumni who live close to Peoria to raise 6'8" kids who can shoot the rock.

I know you were mostly joking, but why would we need to rely on alumni raising quality basketball offspring to help us? That doesn't seem to likely to happen, especially given the way certain distinguished alumni and their basketball-playing progeny have been treated recently.
What's wrong with normal aggressive recruiting? It seems we have had a lot of quality players targeted for 2012, 2013, and 2014, now we just need to land some of them and not settle for "late blooming seniors, injured prospects who fall out of scholarships, developing JC players and BCS transfers".
