  • Vote for the Bradley Most Outstanding Athletes

This isn't really a basketball topic, but this forum obviously gets the most traffic, so I thought I would post it here.

For the first time in the award's history, fans will be given the opportunity to cast their votes for the annual Bradley Alumni B-Club Most Outstanding Athletes.

Here's the release with some more information: http://www.bradleybraves.com/ViewArt...CLID=205438993

    Hope everyone votes.

are the results of the fans' voting in any way binding?...
and just one suggestion, and I know we didn't exactly have a great basketball season but....
since Men's Basketball is by FAR Bradley's premier sport, most popular and has the most fans and most people who'd ever check in on this web site or the one you link to...
you should have included at least one BU basketball player...we do have some very good athletes on the team....
I can only assume the intent was to NOT have a basketball player in the running for this award...
Even Leah Kassing had a great year for women's basketball and is going on to a pro career...

We have some tremendous athletes on all of our teams, men's basketball obviously included, but the minimum requirement to be considered for the award is to be first-team all-conference. To be considered the Most Outstanding Athlete for a given year, I think that is a fair standard. Of course, being all-conference in one sport isn't always the same as being all-conference in another, but it seems to be a good baseline from which to start. In some sports there were multiple first-team all-conference honorees. Hopefully all of our teams will be represented in the future.

Up until last year, the vote was strictly an internal vote of head coaches and select staff. Last year, we allowed members of the media to vote and this year we are experimenting with the fan vote. The votes will be considered in those three different categories.

Obviously men's basketball players are our most well-known athletes, but I hope voters will consider the overall merits of the final candidates and their accomplishments within the year. Though there are not any basketball players included, the six candidates all are deserving and it should be an interesting vote.
