  • Top Ten College towns

A travel website has a listing of the Top 10 College towns in the US.
    It is an interesting list-

But it does contain one college town I would bet nobody here would have predicted. Check out the #2 best college town-
    Davis, California

For those who don't want to click through the whokle list, here it is-
10- Athens, Georgia- Univ. of Georgia
9- Oxford, Mississippi, University of Mississippi
8- Ithaca, New York, Cornell Univ., and Ithaca College.
7- Amherst, Massachusetts- Univ. of Massachusetts, Amherst College, and Hampshire College
6- Ann Arbor, Michigan- University of Michigan
5- Madison, Wisconsin- University of Wisconsin
4- Boulder, Colorado- University of Colorado
3- Iowa City, Iowa- University of Iowa
2- Davis, California- University of California-Davis
1- Eugene, Oregon- University of Oregon

Davis, California is in some pretty good company!

I think Peoria just missed the cut.

    Boulder, COLORADO? Really?
... At the end, of the storm, there's a golden sky. And the sweet silver song of the lark. Walk on, through the wind, walk on, through the rain, though your dreams be tossed, and blown. Walk on, Walk on with hope in your hearts, and you'll never walk alone!

I have been to Boulder and it is a nice city. I would question Iowa City on the list. Nothing against Iowa City (and no offense to PTownHawkeye), but it is not particularly unique or scenic. Would anyone go to Iowa City if it wasn't because of the University?

So Coach Les didn't get the short end of the stick after all!
Hope he & son are enjoying it out there.
Maybe the hoops program will pick up this next season.

Interesting list for sure. I'm sure there are many who would dispute the list......I'm surprised Knoxville TN isn't on it.

            College Towns

Da Coach---While I agree with you that Iowa City should not be on the list as a great college town, I and many others go there for another very important reason ---Iowa City has one of the finest, world class medical facilities in the USA. I have had pesonal experience with the hospital and its clinics & staff and I would rank it right up there with Mayo, Cleveland Clinic, etc.
My vote for inclusion in the top ten would most certainly include East Lansing, Mich., the location of Michigan State Univ.

I'm surprised Iowa City is on there as well. Good for them.

I was afraid I might upset someone. Sorry wizard.
Yes, it does have a world class medical center, and I have known many who have been referred there.
I meant why would anyone travel there just to visit the city, other than for the university and its facilities (including medical).

                  I guess you've never been.

On UC Davis that would be hard for me to consider Davis better then Boulder. Ok so it is close to wine country but most college kids are under age???

Iowa City is the greatest college town on earth. Anyone who says otherwise is wrong.

I haven't hahaha I'm not really a fan of anything west of Oklahoma. Apparently I'll have to check this jumping town out! PS, what about South Bend? Or State College?

You're missing some of the most beautiful geographic locations in North America. You should check out Glacier National Park one day.
