  • Butler move to the Atlantic 10

Butler had planned on moving to the Atlantic 10 after next season, but apparently the Horizon League was not happy about them competing one more year as a lame duck, and was considering making them ineligible to win the conference tournament, thus blocking them from the automatic Horizon Conference bid. Thus Butler has moved up their switch to this year.
While the details as to why Butler's move to the Atlantic 10 was accelerated to this fall haven't been stated publicly, it is known that the Bulldog program has a lot of work to do in a short amount of time.

The unexpectedly quick move to the A-10 means Butler is looking for extra games on their schedule. They will have only 16 conference games in the A-10, instead of 18 in the Horizon, and they must also drop out of the BracketBusters games. They also had to drop 1 other game Butler had scheduled against a non-D1 school, which is against Atlantic-10 rules. So they are now looking to add 4 more games.

I have heard they contacted Bradley, but since Bradley's non-conference schedule is full for next season, they will instead work on a future home-and-home series.

In other Butler news....their mascot bulldog is sick with pneumonia-
He became the wrinkled face of Butler’s two cinderella runs to the NCAA tournament title game, but he has fallen sick of late.

The one year we get our schedule done early the perfect team opens up a hole for us. Sonofa*****.

That said, the likes of ISU, and, frankly, every other Valley team, should be on the horn with them. For obvious reasons.

Butler in the future will only have one conference opponent west of them, instead of being in a midwest conference. We should press hard, as a conference, to make Butler make MVC opponents a priority compared to Horizon opponents OOC.

@TAS, they left the Horizon League for lack of competition, I think they'd be more than happy to play Valley teams Looking forward to a future cooperation with Bradley!
... At the end, of the storm, there's a golden sky. And the sweet silver song of the lark. Walk on, through the wind, walk on, through the rain, though your dreams be tossed, and blown. Walk on, Walk on with hope in your hearts, and you'll never walk alone!
I'm behind you 100% Bradley Braves, You'll Never Walk Alone! BEAT STATE!
