This is untrue, Coach Stowell was there; i sat at his table.

edit - in your defense, i heard other folks were there who I didn't see; there was about 850 folks in the room, so it was easy to miss some of them....

Sorry if I was mistaken. I was not able to attend, but a friend of the coach's told me he was not there.

I can also confirm Coach was there. He walked out right in front of me. he was with Coach Bish.

Wondering if Paula was told that she needed to have a good season this year or she would be gone and maybe that is why she is leaving since SIUE had this opening now.
I would think because of the facilities that BU will get a decent no. of persons to apply for this job.

or may be Paula asked for a raise and was denied! I wonder if we'll ever hear the truth. Strange! Again this is par for our Athletic Department as of late.

BTW..I'm one that has always questioned the lack of success of our Lady Braves so I'm not upset. This could be a start of something positive.

Paula is under contract at least through next season. So she would still need Bradley's approval to talk to other prospective employers. So we know Bradley must have told her to go ahead and seek out other jobs, i.e. the SIU-E job. An employer would not do that unless they were planning on not renewing her contract.

Say what SFP? You're contradicting yourself here my friend. Let's stop blaming our Athletic Department for everything (especially before we even know that they may have screwed up). You just said that this is a move you endorsed and advocated a year or two ago. This move is probably long overdue and was done in such a way that all parties involved could part ways in a positive way.

Now, let's hope our AD goes out and gets a coach that's worthy of our top-tier facility.

I thought colleges usually give the go ahead for other colleges to talk to their coaches under contract regardless if they were going to renew them or not.

They usually do. But this is different. This is not a specific college contacting your coach and asking to talk to them about their open coaching job. It is your own coach going out and applying for another open job while still under contract. That doesn't happen unless you don't plan on renewing her contract.

Strange that it was not put under wraps or Paula given her walking papers or leaving to IMO an inferior job. I agree that it was probably the right thing to do but still handled a bit strangely in the PR department. I would also hope they already have a candidate in the wings. If they do then I'll eat crow.

I found it interesting that she was playing in the Braves Club golf outing the day the story broke.

I wonder if we will see a lawsuit with this coaching move?🏀🏀🏀🏀

I suspect they would have preferred it to remain quiet, especially because if Paula did not get the job, it would have been a bit of an embarrassment for her to return to coach BU for another year under these circumstances. In fact, neither BU nor Paula never did release anything regarding the situation. If the Edwardsville and Alton newspapers had not published the story and had not this website found those articles and posted them here, maybe nobody here would have known about this.

And I don't find Paula's participation in the golf outing a surprise. She loves Bradley and has always been dedicated to promoting BU.
I also think BU will begin a coaching search now that it has been confirmed they need a coach.

When are these things ever not leaked? That is what I'm saying about the PR aspect of this. It was handled not so well unless they already had someone ready to take the job.
