  • SEC goes easy on pot using athletes

The NCAA has a 1 year ban on athletes caught using marijuana, but some schools, and now some conferences are looking the other way or going real easy with minimal punishment for marijuana use. The SEC has some of the most lenient rules, and all SEC schools have less strict punishment than the NCAA does. For example- for a first time offense, an athlete may face no penalty or suspension at all, and for a second offense, he might only lose the priviledge of getting free tickets for his family.
Players testing positive for marijuana in the mighty Southeastern Conference do not face the one-year suspension that comes from getting busted by the NCAA.

If I was an elite athlete who liked to smoke weed, I know which conference I'd go to.

Perhaps the SEC has implemented a 'Medical Marijuana" program for their scholarship athletes... Must think pot's not as bad for you as ibuprofen

Leniency for booze in the south I can understand, but weed...

New recruiting promotion for the SEC athletics:

'Come compete in the SEC and see how high you can go!'
