... At the end, of the storm, there's a golden sky. And the sweet silver song of the lark. Walk on, through the wind, walk on, through the rain, though your dreams be tossed, and blown. Walk on, Walk on with hope in your hearts, and you'll never walk alone!
I'm behind you 100% Bradley Braves, You'll Never Walk Alone! BEAT STATE!
Why in the world would Wayne work for less than $50,000 per year?
For those who don't know, DBO jobs earn usually much less than that amount. WM could retire with a generous state pension that is based on his top salaried years as a state employee, and he'd be able to draw a pension more than double that amount.
Likely the new Bradley DBO will be someone new to college coaching who would be happy with an entry level position, which is what DBO usually is.

Correct. The Bradley DBO salary is likely much closer to $35,000.
Well I am getting impatient this time of year with no BU action. Not that I think a DBO is going to make a huge difference to the program. But I hope we hear something soon.

Biggest impact the DBO is likely to make would be related to hotel and restaurant reservations.

Seriously?? Most programs use the position as a bargaining chip -- to hire someone with significant connections or influence, or to keep valuable guys around even if they cannot officially coach, so that it DOES help the program...
Sure the guy in tha position might book some reservations as part of his job - but you can get a volunteer to do that stuff - that's not the real important asset involved here...
For example - Barry Hinson just hired Nate Mast who was the successful head coach of one of our area's junior colleges - but he adds the possibility of contacts and help with recruiting jucos.
Bigger schools hire guys who will give them farther reaching recruiting influence even tho the DBO is not supposed to be a recruiter
Illinois just hired Mark Morris in what is clearly a payback effort by Groce for the work Morris has done for Groce at Ohio....obviously the guy was a valuable part of Groce's Ohio program.
I find the conflicting views on the DBO position interesting. On one hand we have people who consider it a useful and possibly valuable position that can be used to hire someone who can be helpful for both coaching and recruiting purposes. Unofficially of course.
Then on the other hand, when SIU hired Barry Hinson after he was previously Kansas' DBO, they were criticized for hiring someone who had been "out of coaching" for a few years.
