  • Trivia question

Here's one for those with good memories...

Who is the only player in all of college basketball history - who was on the
roster TWICE - with TWO different teams playing in the NCAA Championship game?

BTW - this same player went on to coach at the D-I level and was hired by a Valley school even tho he had zero previous head coaching experience, and even tho he never won an NCAA game there - he was hired away to a BCS position...

Bender at ISU. No idea what happened to him after Washington.

That's right - you are smart!!

Bob Bender - Bloomington, IL native and ISU head coach...
He was on Indiana's roster when they won the NCAA Championship in 1976 and went undefeated...
then two years later when Duke lost in the title game to Kentucky, Bender had transferred and was on Duke's roster...

Bob is currently on the staff of the Atlanta Hawks...Bob and his wife were well known in our area...

I don't think that makes me smart. I just remember looking at Bender's resume at UW a couple of years ago (9 years, sweet 16, no top three finishes).
