SMU's hiring of Jank & Larry Brown prompts AD to be fired

SMU President R. Gerald Turner - apparently unhappy or displeased over recent events - one of which was the hiring of the aging Larry Brown as basketball head coach,
and the hiring of Tim Jankovich for the highest paid assistant position in the galazy - have led the President to fired the AD, Steve Orsini.
News reports claim Orsini & Turner "clashed" and had conflicting opinions on the Brown/Jank hire...but it was Turner who apparently wanted LB not Orsini.
Orsini had just been given a contract extension last year all the way through 2015 - so he's got 3 years' pay coming!

"After several discussions over the last few weeks it became apparent to me
that it was necessary to make this change," Turner said in a statement
released by the school. "While we both are committed to the support of our
student-athletes and coaches, a unified effort is required for future progress."

"..Orsini's firing announced by president Gerald Turner on Thursday afternoon borders on shocking.

..This may be over money. Jones is making $2 million per year. There was a big outlay for Brown and Jankovich.
Something about this doesn't smell right. Stay tuned..."

this is ironic since just as soon as Larry Brown got there he cleaned house and sent several players packing - and now the AD is packing.
