  • NCAA hands down severe penalties for academic shortcomings to Grambling

    To Grambling....

five separate penalties for poor progress with "APR"...I guess they really don't want these guys to win any games this coming season...

    - practice restrictions - during the season — four fewer hours and one fewer day per week.

    - practice restriction before the season - the team can't start fall practice until Oct. 22 (one week later than all other schools are alolowed to start).

    - a shortened season - They will sacrifice two contests during the season, leaving them with a maximum of 27 games.

    - a reduction to 10 scholarships - loss of three scholarships, limiting them to 10 for the year. In 2011-12 they had just four scholarship players

    - post-season ban but they have received a waiver so it will not yet be in place in 2012-2013.
As if rebuilding a program that won just four games last season wouldn't be difficult enough for new Grambling head coach Joseph Price, now he'll have to deal with additional sanctions in regards to the program's poor APR performance.
