Wow! Sounds like a terrific pick up. Sounds like he has the potential to be better than Nic Moore -- http://crownmagonline.com/recruiting...d-man-fo-2012/

Insider story on Purdue's interest in Nic Moore....and Purdue's history of being unable to guard bigger PG's in the Big Ten because they've relied on very small PG's for much of the past four years.
I hope Nic reads this because it's likely that they are pursuing Moore only as a fall back or backup option.

BTW - the story on Kaza Keane seems to leave something out...
Keane may be very talented but there are issues that have scared away many of the other programs recruiting him.....
He's playing at a prep school, "Christian Faith Center Academy" and suddenly "reclassifies" from a 2013 recruit to a 2012 recruit.
But the story fails to mention that the school he is at will certainly face sanctions as it is a complete scam and diploma mill and not a school at all, and the guy in charge took $$ from the players and their families under false pretenses and tried to funnel the kids to the bigger programs....
but even those "bigger" programs have now caught the smell of all this and have backed off......

Many of the other programs that were supposedly pursuing Keane backed off because of the issues and some feel he will not clear the "clearinghouse"...

Youth basketball coach Ro Russell has parted ways with a U.S. prep school days after he was criticized in a CBC documentary.

If there is a moral to the Ro Russell story, it is probably that the higher one climbs, the more he exposes. The 45-minute Fifth Estate report on the Toronto youth basketball coach and the fallout thereof speaks for itself. … Continue reading

I didn't read anywhere that it said this kid wouldn't clear the clearinghouse? I must be missing that paragraph on all of the article's posted.

It's just some talk among fans - nobody said it was reported in an article -- but obviously the coaches doing the recruiting would know and it would be an important factor to them if it's an issue...
The article from February says ..
" (Keane) lists..ORU, Rhode Island, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Nebraska, Pittsburgh, Georgia Tech, UConn, Tennessee and Oklahoma State as schools intensely pursuing him"

..so that's a whole lot of top schools said to be "intensely" after him...

Then the "scandal" with his coach hits in March...

and suddenly, even in this late period when almost anyone with talent is getting many big time offers.....and anyone scoring more than 2ppg is getting offers.....
.. the only two schools still pursuing Keane are Rhode Island & ISU??
..and a few comments on the URI board say Hurley backed off there was something that caused him to stop pursuing...
There's more to this story.......even Illinois' John Groce who was once interested - dropped off despite not really even having a point guard!

            From ESPN insider:

Kaza Keane (Ontario, Canada/Christian Faith Center Academy) might have the coolest name in the class of 2012 and, at 6-foot-2, 180-pounds, the type of build many recruitniks would love to have themselves.

Alex Kline of TheRecruitScoop.com reports that in choosing to play for Illinois State on Tuesday, he went with the Redbirds ahead of Penn State, Purdue, Oklahoma State and South Florida. Not exactly a conventional decision, to be sure, but Keane tells the website why he made his decision to play under first-year head coach Dan Muller.

"I wanted to go where I could make an impact," he said. "I want to help them get over the hump and make it to the NCAA tournament. The team has guys who are great teammates and will help make a major impact."

"They have great facilities, great players and they needed a point guard," Keane told Reggie Rankin of ESPN's Recruiting Nation. "It's just a great opportunity for me to be an impact player."

Most of those schools were looking at him for 2013. Pretty easy to figure how they would drop off if they have no room when he was reclassified to 2012. BTW, who reclassifies him? Doesn't the NCAA do this? He may not have had a choice.

Also, you need to check your sources. URI and ISU were not the only schools after him in the end as the poster above me had noted. He had a scheduled visit to Penn St. next week before he committed to ISU.

I find it funny that he was "down to Penn State and ISU" according to some writers, and yet it wasn't even sure if he had an offer yet from Penn State and his visit wasn't scheduled until some time in June.

this article from yesterday - even highlights that the report of his interest in PSU as a finalist was "UNCONFIRMED"...AND THEY NOTE that Penn State hasn't contacted Keane recently...

"The staff exhausted their 130 recruiting days allowed per academic year and
are unable to leave campus and evaluate prospects. It's a quiet period right
now so any off campus contact is prohibited anyway.."

James Franklin never sleeps, so neither do we. Welcome to the official page for Penn State Recruiting.

Did Penn Sate want this kid? They made no moves on one of the only remaining 2012
prospects in all of North America and simply allowed a mid-major to waltz right in and steal the kid??

PLEASE keep bad mouthing him as much as you and this board did for Nic Moore. I'd love for Kaza to have anything close to the same success Nic did his Frosh year

Do you think he is in the same class as Nic Moore?

And for the record, I do not see anyone "bad mouthing" Kaza Keane. Where do you see that?

You are correct Nacho. There was a LOT of bad mouthing of "little", "tiny" Nic Moore... and many ate those words. By the way, I was not one of them as I believed that Moore would be an elite Valley player... and he was.

However, I've now had a chance to review some video of Kaza Keane (which probably means absolutely nothing ) and have come to the conclusion that he is NO Nick Moore. He seems to be more like ex-Brave Donivine Stewart... appears somewhat slow afoot and maybe listed as taller than he really is. IMO, I don't think he is anywhere near as good as Bradley's Anthony Fields. What's great to know is that we'll all get a chance to find out in another year. My prediction is that Keane may eventually be moved to a shooting guard or combo guard where he is more likely to compete against Bradley's KD Bell, who I believe will play more at that position for BU.

Here's some video I found of Kaza --
6'1" Kaza Kajami-Keane is one of the most talented PGs in the Class of 2012. Here are highlights from 3 games during his senior year at Christian Faith Acade...

I have watched those videos, and some others available on various recruiting sites. And from what can be seen, I agree with B4L, that Keane is not quite as D1-ready as Nic Moore was. I suspect that some of the D1 programs that were recruiting him dropped off for some of the reasons B4L says. I agree he does not appear to be 6'2", but I don't know what his height is. Some Canadian prep sites list him as low as 5'10". He also has a slightly funky shot release from in front of his face that will make it difficult to get shots in D1. And other than layups, none of the shots he takes in all the videos are taken while on the move, or with dribble-drive. They are all sort of a stand still semi-jump shot.

Here is more about the scandal involving his prep school coach that was uncovered by a media outlet in Canada. It lead to him resigning from the prep school. It is an interesting read, and will likely result in some extra scrutiny by the NCAA when they decide his eligibility.

Do you read the whole article or just the parts you want?

He was scheduled to visit PSU next week according to the article, not "sometime in June". I think they were in contact with him until he committed to ISU.

Is it possible the twitter report is unconfirmed because there were more schools than just PSU and ISU involved?

Here is the whole quote from the article that you used. Maybe use the whole sentence next time since you left out the most important part.

"It's a quiet period right now so any off campus contact is prohibited anyway but school visits can be made and electronic communication is permissible."

Sounds a little different than what you were trying to sell.

No offense to the knowledgeable posters on here (which many of you are) but I am going to take the scouting of these people over you guys...

                              2. KAZA KAJAMI-KEANE, PG, CHRISTIAN FAITH CENTER ACADEMY
The 6-foot-1 2013 guard scored 16 points in his team's eight-point win. Kajami-Keane is a smooth ball-handler who was at his best when changing speeds in the open floor and scoring around the rim in transition. He also showed off nice range, pulling up for jumpers when leading the break in his team's up-tempo offense. The best part of Kajami-Keane's game on Friday night was his distributing. He led his team in assists by drawing help defenders and finding his two athletic forwards in senior Jaylen Pennie and junior Mikyle McIntosh. Georgetown, Marquette, Arizona and Michigan State are recruiting Kajami-Keane.

Kaza Keane, 6-1, PG, CFCA, 2013: To keep it 100, I didn’t necessarily see everything that his coach Ro Russell had told me about him the first time that I saw him nearly a year ago. Fast forward a season in the states and I see what the hype is about. The Canadian playmaker has a refined skill set with the ability kill you from beyond the arc. It’s clear that Keane has been playing the game at a high level for quite some time based on his calm court demeanor and ability to find the open man nearly every time down the hardwood, hence why Texas, Wake Forest, and Arizona have offered him a scholarship.

Keane comes from a basketball family with strong roots. The Grassroots Canada product has two sisters - one playing at Cleveland State and one at Michigan State who recently signed with the San Antonio franchise in the WNBA. The point guard had a strong senior year, which was highlighted by a quadruple double performance in one game.

"Kaza is a very underrated point guard," said Russell - who believes he is similar to his former player - Cory Joseph. "I know that once he gets to the college level he will have an immediate impact. Cory has helped mentor Kaza as a point guard as there are certain similarities that they share. They both love to play defense, who are floor generals that can shoot the three and are very quick."

While his impact will not be as major as Joseph's had on Texas - which ultimately led to him being a lottery pick in the NBA - Kaze Keane is a competitve point guard who will make a strong impact for the Redbirds during his career in the Missouri Valley Conference.

Kaza Keane 6’0 PG Pickering H.S. – 2013- The more we watch Keane the more he grows on us. The young point guard possesses a high amount confidence at such a young age. Keane is leading his Pickering team to an impressive start thus far. He is a fierce competitor who will not back from any challenge, he more than held his own against the older competition.

Kaza Kajami-Keane 5’11” PG Pickering- 2013 – Watching Kean in action you notice signs of his youth when controlling the point on the varsity team. But you also can’t help but notice how impressive he really is at the position, how much of a leader he is and how bright his future is. Keane needs to cut down on leaving his feet to pass the ball (which cost him a good amount of turn overs) he also should not gamble so much on the defense. This young guard is one to watch for.
                              Even Dave Reynolds is impressed:
