BTW - if Nic Moore did indeed receive several phone calls recruiting him elsewhere - even before he asked for his release,
then ISU should pursue complaints against those other schools who tamepered...

..but I disagree with one line from that report... that Moore "will be an impact for any team he plays for next year."
..because it appears he will be sitting out next year......

Let's wait and see if ISU has botched this story as well...

Tough loss for the Redbirds, he was pretty impressive in St. Louis. Anyone know where he might be heading? Maybe the Big Ten(Purdue) or Big East (SMU)??

I don't know - does SMU have any open scholarships??
If not, then just another day or so and they will...

They can file all the complaints they want because this happened to us and was even proven yet nothing really happened because we are not a BCS school, obviously he was told that he can play at a higher level which he can but it stll does not make it right.

BTW -- another report from Bebnson today quoting the ISU players as saying the rumors are not true and that nobody's leaving -

"Definitely everyone is coming back. We’ll be the same team and pick up from where we left from last year.”

and in his intro speech Dan Muller has really set some high and lofty goals...
he doesn't appear to want to win the Valley - just to...
"improve and bulk up the non-conference schedule from where it was during Jankovich’s time.
“Goals for scheduling will be to have an RPI that is high enough to give us an at-large bid if we don’t win the [conference] tournament.."

I wouldn't allow him to go to SMU or Kansas if I were ISU.

That ploy backfired for Wisconsin and they got a ton of highly negative press and it likely hurt them on the recruiting trail.
Anyway - if ISU doesn't release him - then they cannot use the scholarship to get anyone else - so it would be kinda stupid...

HA! ISU's inability to control the story is embarassing. In this case, nearly every "rumor" from Jank sniffing the SMU job to Moore's departure and most everything in between has eventually been proven true. There are people close to the program who are frustrated and they are talking (although Muller's hiring eliminates one of my sources, unfortunately).

I have been hearing and posting for a few weeks that the team was loyal to Jank, not ISU and I think we are about to see this continue to be proven. It was a badly kept secret that Moore was going to leave, but will be interesting to see which of the other players leave. 3-4 other names are out there.

Still, I am confident that Muller was the right man for the job, and will get through this.

Yes, that is true. However, he can still leave even if ISU does not grant a full release, but he would not be able to receive a scholarship if he isn't fully released (see the Danny Granger situation where there was proven tampering and rules violations by New Mexico).

However, if he is willing to sit out a full year, which is a pretty severe penalty, I don't see why he shouldn't be allowed to leave and transfer anywhere he wants. Why should ISU try to control where he would transfer (unless there is proven tampering)?

Kids transfer all the time, and I have always felt the NCAA should remove any penalty for kids who transfer when a coach leaves.

I usually agree on this. But not in this case. The coach left on his own late in the year. He shouldn't be able to take players with him. And Self seems to have suggested him for the SMU job. He shouldn't be able to pick up ISU players either. I think it would be a big mistake on NM's part if he went to Kansas anyway. He is a good player, but I don't know about Kansas good.

Huge loss if it is true. This kid has game and only proves you don't have to be 6' something to be a factor in this league. Good luck Nic ,glad your gone. Take a few more studs with you, please.
