    +1

I remember Muller being a player I wished WE had back in the day--and I also remember him getting high academic awards--12 years under Stallings--and IF Judson stays--their AD will have made an outstanding choice.

Now Geno--WE need to find a way to beat Muller time this coming season
    Bradley football--undefeated again this year

Muller makes the most sense in the long-term. He'll probably have success and stick around for quite a while.

I don't know about in the short-term view of just next season though. Judson would have likely held the entire team together that is just about guaranteed to improve on last year's 21-14 record. I expect Muller will probably lose a guy or two.

I wonder how many agencies were used to reach this decision?

I am getting a kick out of some of the stuff being written about Muller - I wonder if he even agrees with some of it..
I'd like to hear Geno's side to the story that supposedly Muller shut Geno down when they faced each other...

          One other thing...

says Dan Muller played for the NBA Grizzlies for two seasons!

Now _ I am willing to buy this if someone can show me just one thread of proof or evidence.
In my field as well as many others you could get canned for lying about or enhancing your resume...

but the truth is that he's never appeared for even one second in any NBA game - something easily proven many ways.
In fact - the only time he was under contract by an NBA team was a very short term contract signed as a replacement player in 98-99 during the lockout - when all the NBA teams were signing multiple players just to pressure the NBA'ers into going back to the bargaining table. Those players were mostly never intended to be used in games.

On the same day in 1998 the Griz signed Muller - they signed 10 mostly no-name players who were then cut again just a couple weeks later when the lockout ended.
I don't have anything against Dan - but surely even he is embarrassed by these complete errors in his bio.

I'm sure he has better things to do.

I don't think he needs to be embarrassed. Unless he passed on the bio. He didn't write it up. The person who wrote it should be the one that is taken to task.

Just for the record- Here is how the erroneous statements about Dan Muller's NBA career came to be. His own official bio on the Vanderbilt website has this brief statement-
Prior to joining the Vanderbilt staff, Muller spent two years playing professionally including a stint with the NBA's Vancouver Grizzlies.
http://www.vucommodores.com/sports/m...ler_dan00.html (see 5th paragraph from bottom)

Obviously some reports have taken that and erroneously twisted it into saying Dan played 2 years with the Grizzlies, which is not true.

Dan was under contract for the Vancouver Grizzlies for about a month back in Jan-Feb of 1999, just as the NBA and players were resolving their differences in the 1998-1999 "Lockout Season". He was signed by the Grizzlies along with 9 other new free agent players on Jan. 22, 1999. That was the first day teams were allowed to sign free agents to add to their rosters after the new collective bargaining agreement was ratified. Over the next 4 weeks, the Grizzlies waived nearly every one of them, including Muller on Feb. 22, before he had ever appeared on their active roster or appeared in a single game.
Vancouver Grizzlies scores, news, schedule, players, stats, rumors, depth charts and more on RealGM.com

It's likely they were mostly signed as practice players to help the team prepare for the regular season that was starting quickly with only a couple weeks to train and prepare for the shortened season that was settled on.

As far as I can find, the only other pro experience Dan had was an 11 game stint with a pro team in Belgium the next year, the 1999-2000 season-

So the statement in his bio that "Muller spent two years playing professionally including a stint with the NBA's Vancouver Grizzlies" is true, though a bit deceptive. It suggests he "played" for them, which he did not. His entire pro playing career appears to consist of just 11 games with the Belgian team KBBC Siemens Gent that went 6-20, and finished dead last in the 14 team Belgian First Division that year.

And he never made it onto an NBA active roster or played in a game for the Grizzlies, and thus his name does not appear anywhere in the database of all NBA and ABA players.

His pro or lack of pro career is irrelavant to his coaching ability....nobody really cares

You seem to have an affinity toward this Muller fellow, 45.
Have you met him before? Just curious as to your personal connection.
In my early years as a Braves fan, I really enjoyed watching DM grow as a player.

As much as I don't care for the Birds now, I rooted for them as my 3rd team (behind U of I) during that time period when they made the NCAA tournament and beat the Vols in '98. Just a fun team to watch and one of the most exciting NCAA tournament games that I've seen from a Valley team...well, there have been several in the past 10 seasons or so come to think of it!

And now you get to see him grow as a coach. I'm happy for you.

hmmm.. they sure cared about all these factors when it came to the selection of a BU coach who had zero head coaching experience

Really?...I don't think anyone cared if Muller actually played pro ball when JL was named coach either

Well those two things are entirely different from each other T.....

Two guys are named as a head coach...one really didn't play pro ball but had 12 years as an assistant...the other played pro ball and no college experience.......seems like a big difference to me...
