  • I was not referring to anything DAJ said. I was referring to the plethora of strong negative opinions we have seen here and elsewhere, including many in KW's past columns, directed toward Bradley's coach.
But apparently anyone who doesn't agree with what a journalist (whos job it is to "stir the pot") thinks is over the line.

I feel like a lot of the heavy criticisms and poking of fun at the previous regime, including the coaches and players, are meant to be shots at the major posters of this board, not the actual coach or players. They criticize the players and coaches not to insult them, but to try and insult the particular posters they feel completely mis-evaluated their worth. I feel like a lot of the shots at Les in particular TOB are not at Les himself, but at the people who vehemently opposed his firing last year. The criticisms of the job he did are made because they contradict posts supporting him from last year on here.

Obviously there are exceptions but still.
I would agree. The intention is to mock, make fun of, and degrade people that they don't see eye-to-eye with. When 10 year-old girls do it, it is called bullying. When adults do it, it is called "pathetic."

I don't know how anyone writing about Bradley wouldn't have to at least touch on what the new coach inherited. I'd even go so far as to say that pretty much any story on any new coach with a rebuilding job will ALWAYS mention what that new coach inherited.

It isn't pointing a finger or fixing blame; it is just needed to give context to the average, less informed reader.
And on this board you would be "less informed" because evidently you didn't read kw's column. Every Bradley fan knows and admits that Geno has a rebuilding job on his hands. But kw's comment about previous regimes was uncalled for, a year after the previous coach was fired. Geno isn't a new coach anymore.

He's smiling more now than he was when his choice wasn't chosen as the new coach when Coach Les was hired. A real Bradley basketball fan doesn't want the Braves to ever lose. Do you think kw was unhappy when the Braves were losing during Coach Les's last season?

I'm not trying to take sides or anything, but I think their argument is that the degrading started on the other end, not their end, and that there was a lot of defaming of them included, not just disagreements. But whatever happened before, the veiled shots they take often do get taken out of context and are out of hand. It's just a mess.

Fair enough I guess, but that eye for an eye attitude is usually only prevalent in youtube fight videos and Jersey Shore. In addition, any perceived degrading to them was done long ago. Why the need to continue the bullying?

I agree BNC. It's time to move on from the silliness and get on board with what we have now; there's no changing what has happened in the past. We've got some great kids coming in this year and next year, and an enthusiastic coach that is doing his best to bring Bradley fans a winner. Taking shots at each other should end now. After all, we're ALL Bradley Braves fans. Once A Brave Always A Brave! Braves4Life!

All sounds good, and I agree completely, but it has nothing to do with what I was saying.

Making statements like this is premature. We are all willing to give Geno time, but let's stop trying to diminsh the accomplishments of the previous coach.
All I'm saying is KW had a point, rebuilding takes time and fans don't want to hear that. 7-25 is a bad season, but if Geno is getting recruits he believes will be successful and instituting changes he believes will lead to wins, then it's progress. And there's no negative news reports and the team has a record GPA, so it's all good on the off-the-court front. It took Les 4 seasons to make the NCAA tourney and post a winning season, and it took Mo 5 seasons for the NCAA and 3 for a winning season. Not trying to diminish anything, just fact. With only his first season as a reference, it's too early to say if he is failing or succeeding in building the program back up.

Wessler was not the PJS reporter who covered Bradley back in those days. I believe it was Phil Theobald. I probably disliked him as much as you guys dislike Wessler.

LOL - only 0.1% of such shots ever appear on this board and they're the politest 0.1%, but I will be there for every game and support the Braves 100% as I have always done...let's see if those taking shots will try to do the same

Yeah, and it's been dead for awhile, and they won't stop beating it. Hopefully, both sides will stop attempting to speak for the other side and let there be two separate but equal respectable places for BU-related discussion.

this would be breaking news as the most common way to respond to anything seems to be to completely mis-state the other guy's opinion, label him biased, and a hater, then discount anything he says...
