Very good article. Wessler hits on a lot of good points and speaks the truth about what Braves fans are feeling right now.

Good to see much of the sports section in the pjs this morning reporting on Bradley basketball. Good job by Dave Reynolds. Was even reading kw's column until he had to take a shot at Jim Les. Over and over we are told to get over coach Les's firing and the majority of us have and are backing Geno 100%. Yet the executive sports editor of the pjs has to stir the pot.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

He also can't seem to write a column without taking shots at the fans, including his own father, who would have liked to see us sign a shooter instead of sacrificing next season. I guess we'll all just have to shut up and be patient, and wait until the great sports editor tells us we can start enjoying good basketball again.

I was all FOR Coach Les' firing but when I read that I couldn't help but roll my eyes. Let it go KW, let it go.

I'm sorry but I didn't read it that way guys. In fact, I don't think he even mentioned Les' name. Did he? I saw his statement as more of a criticism of the coaches and program for the past 50 years.

When kw mentioned "your predecessor" the paragraph was pertaining to Geno, not coaches of the past.

Institutional integrity is important, and sometimes that means living with mistakes ??” even those made by your predecessor.
I see the quote but I still didn't take that as a personal criticism of Les. KW is just stating the obvious, IMO. Coaches get fired and replaced for a reason... usually because of "mistakes". The new coach can choose to live with those mistakes or do what Larry Brown and SMU did. I prefer the course that Geno and Bradley have taken.

I'll agree with that last sentence

I sure hope all this dripping optimism continues even if we have another way-below-.500 season...

I'm quite confident that we WILL have another below-.500 season. I think the real optimism is aimed at 2013-14... Geno's put up or shut up season.

What part of "the mistakes of his predecessor" is not a criticism of Les?

I'm honestly NOT trying to pick a fight here Bravesfan. There is no doubt that this was a criticism of Les. I just don't see it as personal or any big deal. Wessler might have said the same thing when Les replaced Mo, or when Mo replaced Albeck, or when Versace replaced Stowell....

The article was more about Bradley not winning enough championships over the last 50 years and how this is not acceptable , I agree with that statement as with all the support and resources BU has they should be a lot more competitive in mens basketball, I expect to see much better results next season in team play as we have quite a few experienced players and the staff has had time to make them better, winning at home should be expected .
