Whoa, what a shock!... Just kidding.
If there is anyone who doesn't think this was a done deal early last week, you have to be quite naive. If there ever was any possibility that Jankovich was planning to stay at ISU he would have stated it loud and clear to reassure the ISU fans, players, and recruits. But instead he refused to comment while his lawyers hammered out the best deal for him.
Yet all this time he continued to recruit and travel and attend AAU events despite planning all along to leave ISU and take the SMU job. So just who was he recruiting? I doubt he was recruiting for ISU when he knew he would be working for SMU. Shouldn't ISU ask for a refund for whatever expenses Jank racked up out on the recruiting trail last week? Seems like he played them for fools all along.
From PJ Star sports expert Kirk Wessler in his Jan. 10, 2012 column following 8th loss in a row at Drake-
"Yes, the Braves are better than they were when the season started two months ago. By a light year or two, they??™re better."

And from the PJ Star 4/26/12, Dave Reynolds-
"Fields and Grier both appear to be difference makers. If Bradley continues to add the right players around them, happy days may be ahead for the Braves after a long dry spell."

I think he played everyone for fools. The man must be a genius to end up with a Big East coaching job after having done almost nothing at isu.

Sounds like Timmy did a nice job janking ISU-R's tool....

I suspect ISU-R will find a pretty decent new Coach.... The cupboard is not bare there, they have had some recent success, and the MVC is still a pretty good conference.

Hopefully ISU-R will be able to land an up and comer outside the midwest area, instead of a re-tread or a local...better for the MVC Conference to bring new blood into the League with contacts outside the Valley's typical recruiting areas.

Don't know if he wants the job or if they want him but, my vote is already on campus. ROB JUDSON I hope.

Rob Judson failed miserably in his first go around. Does he get another shot here, or does Dan Muller get his first head coaching job?

Sure... But I'll start the Jim Les to ISU rumor. SIU has already hired a former MVC coach, why not ISU?

ESPN's Andy Katz says ISU will "make an initial run at Duke associate head coach Chris Collins to replace Tim Jankovich". And, "If Chris turns the job down then the Redbirds should look long at Gonzaga assistant Ray Giacoletti."
Really? Is Andy Katz as informed and connected as everyone thinks he is?
                        1. Southern Miss is expected to make a choice to replace Larry Eustachy as early as Friday or possibly Monday. Unless there is a stealth candidate, the three most likely finalists, according to multiple sources, are Morehead State’s Donnie Tyndall, former Nebraska/UTEP coach Doc Sadler and Mississippi Valley State’s Sean Woods.

but Katz said the same thing last time around when ISU hired and when Illinois was hiring, too...and Chris Collins is still at Duke..

Anyone else think that maybe one or more current ISU players might consider transferring??
I have no inside info except to say that SMU is gonna need to restock for play in 2013 in the Big East, and that Larry Brown has been out of college coaching for almost 25 years so he's gonna rely tremendously on his top assistants to bring players in...and some will depend on who they bring in....anytime a whole new staff gets brought in we see player departures.

Might Jank be a big enough fan of his PG Nic Moore to yearn to have him at SMU??
Might Jackie Carmichael (from South Kent Prep, Connecticut) want to play in a premier conference like the Big East, aka - "The Big Leagues"..enough to be willing to sit out a year just to play his senior season as a Big East player?
Seriously - he already knows he's never gonna be more than a 2nd fiddle big man in the MVC anyway as long as Doug McDermott is here.
And even tho Jackie Carmichael (14ppg/10rpg) consistently puts up double doubles and in many games carries his entire team like no other player in the Valley - just how much respect did he get anyway??
-- being left off the 1st Team All Valley every year while guys like Weems (15.7ppg/7rpg) and Stutz (13ppg/8rpg) - whose stats are no better - get 1st team.
Heck - last year Carmichael didn't even get 1st, 2nd, OR even Honorable Mention while Durley with 11ppg & 4.9rpg was 1st team! No respect!
