  • Dispute between SIU & Chris Lowery - SIU does not want to pay remaining contract...

This is interesting - the SIU Athletic Director Mario Mocchia is saying Chris Lowery was FIRED "with cause" meaning they fired him claiming a perceived violation of his contract - and they are trying to get away with NOT paying a penny on the remaining TWO YEARS left on Chris Lowery's contract - roughly $1.5 million!!!

In an interview Moccia said this...

    Question:
"I had been told by multiple sources that Lowery was not just fired, but fired for cause. Under those terms, Southern was contesting its obligation to pay Lowery the reamining $1.5M on his contract. Was it true?"

    Moccia's response:
    "Yes."

"Chris Lowery was fired for one word: academics. The academic performance of our student athletes under his watch was not satisfactory."

    First off it's SIU.

So they have no real chance of winning this do they? (SIU)
I can't see any possibility of them getting out of paying for that.

well if siu's apr is as low as some say, and you have 2 players have to sit out the 1st semester last fall and one was clo's cousin, siu might have a case. I think it's more likely both sides come to a settlement. Clo doesnt want his dirty laundry aired

Hmm...makes you wonder what was really behind the JL contract dispute..

anyway - now the SIU decision to withhold release for their players is getting National attention...

As budget impasse closes centers on campus and jeopardizes the future of college students, Saluki students seem apathetic  Illinois’ eight-month budget impasse has handicapped programs, under-funded community services and put all public universities in a proverbial chokehold while state legislatures wait to see who will blink first. It’s a game of politics between the governor...
