not speculating - those juco kids were earlier and higher priority than the guys we landed those are the kids who were targeted...
again - I have no problems with who we are recruiting, I have no problem with who Geno brings in, I even said I think we got quite possibly two of the best out there, and I never had any problems with who JL went after - not the jucos, newbies, nor D-I virgins..... players who time after time the local press seemed to have trouble with and repeatedly had to point out how badly JL had recruited...

So let me restate my point again since it seems some missed - I am being fully consistent -
I support who this coach brings in and I also supported who the last one and the one before that brought in..
I just see over and over an inconsistent pattern and hypocrisy - people who criticize or turn on certain recruits then not others in the same setting..
...everything from criticism of who JL brought in - players who couldn't play then were sent packing, to poor use of timeouts, poor management in games, selection of staff & assistants, failure to ever get to the post-season, etc., etc......yet I also see where those exact criticisms in similar or identical situations suddenly turn to positives....

If I referred to the players Geno brought in as "fundamentally wretched" or as "not D-I players" as we have seen used time and time again in reference to JL - then I am sure it would tick people off..
.. some are ok with it when used against JL but if I even simply quote the words used some get mad...

        Are you sure she/he wasn't?

Actually, I've seen it stated that we don't have ANY D1 players on this roster and they should all be "run off".

Some are still implying there are one or two players on the team that just didn't comprehend their year-end "evaluation" and decided to stick around anyways.

I hope you're right, but what have you seen from these players to make you believe this? WE hasn't done much at Bradley; NW hasn't played a D1 game yet; SS was incredibly disappointing to me (I know some thought he "showed flashes", but I hated to see him with the ball in his hands); TP is a brand new player at Bradley.

Hopefully, JC and SS improve on last season and show us what they're truly capable of.

For the record, I like what we've done with getting these two players in here, give them a year in the system, get 4 more players and hopefully compete with the rest of the conference.

Hope returning BU Div 1 players improve their lay-up shooting % for 2012-13!

Will be interesting to see if any other schollies open up for BU for 2012-13.

              Or

If GF and assts will now focus exclusively on potential 2013-14 and 2014-15 recruits..

"..the boys Division I-II game that will be held at 5:30 p.m., Northland's Jalen
Robinson, Pickerington Central's Caris LeVert and Olentangy Liberty's Nick
Archer are expected to be in attendance.
LeVert recently reopened his recruitment after previously signing with Ohio
University after having a tremendous senior season that included leading the
Tigers to the Division I state championship.
It will be interesting to see if a school like Ohio State, which just had two
players transfer, will go after the talented forward."

another commit who blew up and reopened recruitment - Willie Moore is now down to VaTech or South Carolina

Caris Levert originally signed with mid-major Ohio then landed at Michigan and was a key player helping them to the Final Four..
Here's an article that says he has had a growth spurt between his freshman & sophomore years and is now 6-8

Levert - Michigan's leading scorer - would have gone to Illinois but Groce may have dropped the ball...
After Groce moved from Ohio University to the University of Illinois in 2012, LeVert waited for a phone call to come from his future head coach. He's still waiting.

anyone else notice a whole lot different pattern this spring...?

Last spring there was tons of open talk about recruiting - the PJS literally had an article almost daily naming kids left & right and speculating on who's getting offers and making visits...

This spring - it's all very close to the vest - not much word of the guys who are visiting - sparse mention of recruiting....
..unless and until some message board sleuth work identified them...

Wonder why the big, 180 degree difference?

almost daily last spring there was talk about Buovac, Brzoja, Mike Shaw, Tommy Hamilton, etc...and even tho we didn't land most of them, I enjoyed reading anything that could give us optimism...

As I read recruiting articles and basketball blogs...I see Wichita in with gobs of good recruits, and I read Creighton listed in connection with tons of kids - even tho those teams are still very busy right now...

As I read all the columns about the NJCAA (juco) National Tourney - article after article & tweet after tweet mentioned coaches who were present --

but our guys are staying way under the radar this spring - maybe that's good...I don't know...but I kinda like it when our name is on some desirable kid's short list!!!

BTW - even tho Hill College lost - I watched the game on the NJCAA streaming and I am in awe with Tramique Sutherland...
I think Geno hit a home run here - although I admit time will tell....but a great PG will make a HUGE diference like it does for Wichita and like it did with Nic Moore for ISU and Jake Odum for InSU..
But Tramique literally carried the team at times - scoring when they needed a bucket, assists, rebounds, steals, defense, team-leadership....

I encourage others to watch this game - it is achived right here...Tramique is #11 in the white jersey -
since it's not easy to see the numbers - look for one of the two smallest guys in the white jersey - and Tramique has fairly high white sox and generally brings the ball up court.
If you want to spend less time....
just go forward to about 7:05 and watch as Tramique makes a fast break dunk, then also watch perhaps the final five minutes of regulation play where he kinda single-handedly carries Hill and gets them to OT.

                          T. Sutherland

I watched TS in the Hill vs Jones County game, IMO he is a good player but not a great player....similar to Ka Darrel Bell. He and Bell will fight it out for the starting Point Gd. position next year. He is far from a replacement for WL
                          IMO.

Tramique has a certain intangible - gutsy - willing to take and bury the clutch shot , drive in among the trees, knock down the three, makes good passes and dekes the defenses...
We do see that at time from our guys but not often enough
