    Wisconsin transfer considering Creighton-

But Uthoff might go to a junior college, since he redshirted last season, and he would have to sit out another full year if he transfers. It appears Wisconsin is trying to restrict what schools he can transfer to-
IOWA CITY — Former Cedar Rapids Jefferson basketball standout Jarrod Uthoff has asked for his scholarship release from Wisconsin, Uthoff’s AAU …

In addition to Uthoff, there are still hundreds of available transfers

He will be visiting CU in the next week or two. My money's on him being a BlueJay... Darn it!

Here's an odd statement -- we know Wisconsin's Bo Ryan has played the EXACT same "style of ball" for decades - and that his "style" is very well known - as are the types of players he targets...

And when Jarrod Uthoff chose Wisconsin - he said in interviews that he had watched Wisconsin PLENTY, liked their style of play and chose to go there because of their style - thinking he was a good fit!

Then he bolts right away after never even playing a minute....and astoundingly says ...
that almost RIGHT AWAY...when he got to Wisconsin he had "buyer's remorse"..

"A few months into his University of Wisconsin men’s basketball career, Jarrod Uthoff started having buyer’s remorse....
Uthoff arrived in Madison believing coach Bo Ryan’s system was a perfect fit for his skill set,
but he began having second thoughts while redshirting as a true freshman this past season.

The 6-foot-8 forward, who was expected to be a critical piece of a UW frontcourt ..asked for and was granted a release
Uthoff said Saturday evening he had been “pondering the idea for several months.”

Uthoff said he felt his skills would be better utilized in a different system..."

So much for when kids say they want to go where their style of play will fit in...
I think it is obvious that the truth here is that during the entire year of playing in practices against the other kids Bo Ryan has - Uthoff simply saw plainly he would not be able to compete for playing time.
He will not choose a BCS school again and might go juco so he doesn't have to sit out another full year.

No doubt tornado. I think he will have a much better chance at stardom as a mid-major player. Maybe a Kyle Korver II?

Bo Ryan adds 25 schools to the list that he WILL NOT ALLOW Uthoof to transfer to...

"The ban now includes 25 different colleges with 12 schools in the ACC, 11 in
the Big Ten, Iowa State and Marquette on the restricted list. Apparently,
Wisconsin could place every Division I school on that list. "Theoretically they
          could
          ," said Uthoff."

Why would Wisconsin allow him to transfer to another Big Ten school?

Right now it's between Iowa and Iowa St but he hasn't eliminated Marquette. He really wants to go to Iowa and had buyers remorse about choosing Wisky from the minute he set foot on the court in Madison.

The problem is that Iowa will have 3 other players with a comparable skill set as Uthoff, and as of last week, it sounds like they may not extend a scholarship after the "buy" year when Uthoff would pay his own way. Since he can't have any contact with the Iowa coaches, they have to use back channels.

As an Iowa fan, I like Uthoff, but we need to use that scholarship on an athletic wing player because that will be our need after this season.

I realize Bo took a lot of heat. But there is no reason to let him go to Iowa. No way I would allow that.

Looks like Uthoff to will be officially a Hawkeye in the next 48 hours. And Wisconsin isn't "letting" him go to Iowa. He has to pay his own way for a year...but Wisconsin can't stop him from playing anywhere. In-state tuition at Iowa is cheap so that won't be a factor for Uthoff's upper middle class family...he and his family have been open about this.

Even though I don't think he is a good fit for Iowa's current roster, I love the "spite" factor...and that this may be the opposite of the whole Ben Brust situation. He signed with Iowa and changed to Wisconsin after a coaching change, and Iowa actually helped him appeal the penalty, a classy move. Bo's true colors showed in this case and his reaction to Uthoff's tansfer will make recruits think twice before committing ti play for him.

OK, they aren't releasing him to Iowa. That makes more sense.

In my opinion there is a huge difference between Brust and Uthoff situations. If there is a coaching change he should be able to leave. Nothing has changed for Uthoff since he signed. He didn't even play did he? I think the school can be more selective when it is the players opinion that has changed. Not anything at the school.

What are the in-conference transfer rules for the Big Ten and Valley? It seems to happen so rarely that I thought they were pretty tough. Luke Recker went through a lot to go from Indiana to Iowa via Arizona.

I admit that I haven't followed this closely, but IMO, he is fortunate to be able to transfer to another Big Ten school.
