The way injuries have gone the last couple of years. I think it would be a big mistake for him to try and play professionally.

I understand his passion for playing but with his foot problems he is a huge risk for him.

Hopefully if SM ends up on a professional team in Europe of the US, he will be able to get full medical insurance coverage...including post basketball...

As much as I like Sam and can appreciate his passion for the game, IMO it's time to hang em up. But if he does sign with someone I wish him the best of luck.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

Great decision Sammy - play as long as you can. And you have a degree and a 2nd or 3rd career lined up once you're done.

            Best of luck!!

              easier nowadays

It is basically pretty easy to play overseas nowadays..i mean Anthony Thompson who averaged about 3ppg i am sure will sign with an agent and go overseas...i just hope he doesnt do damage to his foot that last a lifetime.

Does this mean he finished up that masters degree that BU did not offer?

@TPS, that was the reason he was allowed to transfer.

I'm sorry Sammy but REALLY? The few times I watched him this year, he just didn't have the same form as he had at BU, looked like the ankle was bothering him. I wish you the best, but look out for that ankle....

There is no requirement that he has to finish a masters program if he chooses to transfer. In fact, I am not aware of any player who has ever taken advantage of the NCAA's graduate-transfer rule that ever stayed more than 1 year after the transfer or completed the Masters program.

Then can you explain why or how Osiris Eldridge was unable to stick with any team overseas? He was dismissed time and time again in Turkey, France...

Before you attempt to disparage Eldridge any more or try to belittle gerry please read and learn...

I know that -- but it's just a simple question -- with the talent OE has - wouldn't be easy to catch on at a pretty high level in Europe??
The D-League is by NO MEANS a step up from the top leagues in Europe....in fact it's a step down for many...

..and as is also very well known, the average starting salary on each of the last two teams OE played for in Europe is probably double or more what he's making in the D-League...

If it's disparaging that he was sent packing at those teams, then that's your assessment - I am just asking a question...

It can be easier to go from the D-league to the NBA during a season. There are some advantages to being in the D-league instead of Europe.
