Looks like the much maligned Matt Shaw (he seems to get the brunt of the fans' criticism on their fans' message board) was the star today. Shaw had 26 points and 7 rebounds while no other Saluki was in double figures. Tatum (2-11) and Young (1-6) had off-days shooting. The game wasn't close as the Salukis pulled away and won easily. The Gophers will be near the bottom of the Big 10 this year, but SIU took care of business with a big win. Congratulations to the Salukis!

The Minnesota loss to Winona State started it, but the loss to SIU has brought the uproar to a crescendo, and there are now numerous calls for the firing of Minnesota coach Dan Monson and his staff.

Someone speculated on what'd happen if Minnesota fired Monson, then made an offer Jim Les couldn't refuse,
and like the Al B - scenario, required the new coach to keep his defensive assistant.
Then Jim Les would have Jim Molinari as an assistant.
