This kid, Robert Upshaw in interesting...
He was kind of obscure - one of very few decent big men on the entire west coast in the class of 2012....
as recently as just last summer - he was UNRANKED -- and hearing only from Fresno State and a few others....then he changed high schools twice from soph to junior to senior and after getting spotted playing AAU, started hearing from K-State, Arizona, and Maryland - and zoomed up to 4-Star status and Top 40.
He committed and signed a "financial aid agreement" with K-State but DID not sign a Letter of Intent to K-State, and now may want to go to South Carolina with Frank Martin - or may go elsewhere...

virtually any 7-footer who has 2 legs - if he waits or reopens his recruitment at this late stage - will guaranteed get many, many top offers - even those who have low-major talent...

Another 7-footer, who almost came to Bradley and who has a close connection with one Bradley's current coaches, may also be available soon.
Ben Mills, a skilled 7-footer from Wisconsin originally committed to Boise State and then-coach Greg Graham. But when Graham was fired by Boise State, Mills asked for his release, and after a long delay, he was granted the release. He strongly considered coming to Bradley, as BU coach Jim Les had recruited him out of high school, but ultimately settled on Colorado. Now there are rumors that he is asking for his release from Colorado and plans to transfer- it's mentioned near the bottom of this report-
While taking stock of the Colorado Basketball program going forward after a great 2011-2012 season, we look at who the Buffs have returning to the team for 2012-2013.
Ben Mills' name is already listed on the CBSSports.com list of transfers posted yesterday by college basketball writer Jeff Goodman, though I do not believe it is official yet.-

Robert Upshaw ended up settling for Fresno State - and missed out on a chance to keep his commitment to Kansas State and he'd be on a ranked team that's going to the NCAA.
He's also had multiple behavior issues and suspensions...

A little followup on this Robert Upshaw - a TOP 50 kid who signed and was going to K-State then chose Fresno State instead...
In short - he just got kicked off the team - multiple and repeated violations of "team rules"...
does ISU still have any scholarships?
their coach used him a bunch, even started some but he averaged just 4 ppg, 3.8 rpg - hitting just 38% FG accuracy & 46% on FTs - he was also foul prone & TO prone
If he was a stud then I suspect they mighta given him another chance...
Speaking of ISU - ex-ISU Redbird Roberto Fortes has been kicked off his (Angolan) National basketball team
in an unrelated story - it is being reported that Kevin Ware - the Louisville kid who shattered his leg on national TV, was kicked off the team this past summer for repeatedly failing drug tests
(he had reportedly had one prior drug related suspension - see article),
but that this fall, he has been reinstated, but likely will not play this season. There has been no official confirmation of all this by U of L....nor have they yet posted their 2013-14 roster.
There’s nothing like a good college basketball rumor on a Wednesday to get the blood flowing, and the aggression started. The Big Lead is reporting that Louisville guard Kevin Ware was briefly kicked off the team for a few days in July for repeated team violations. Ware of course was the inspirational story of the […]
also - for other Louisville fans - Junior Bridgeman & Chauncy Billups have gone into business and opened some Wendy's
