Did they have just as good of choice sitting in the interem HC job. W/ the right choice at asst coach from the Chicago area they might have been way ahead of the game. Just something to think aboutComment

Also, if it weren't for D.J. Cooper trying out for the NBA (not like he'll ever make it) instead of playing for his team, they would have been in the elite 8. He shot 3-20 and 1-10 from the field. Some of them from 35 feet.WE WANT HEEMSKERK!Comment

Apparently the deal was all done with John Groce, and a press conference was about to be called, but then one of the U of I trustees threw a stink, and the press conference has been called off. This circus is not going to end well...

People can't blame this latest snag on their athletic director. This is a trustee that is making a big stink about Groce not being a minority candidate. That has to stop! This is not a racial issue. U of I did what they could to bring in the best minority candidate in Shaka Smart, who in my opinion was the best candidate period that was out there. Stevens would have been my next choice, followed by Anthony Grant and Lorenzo Lamar. But none of them wanted the job, and now is the time for the Board to stop with the minority requirement and get the best remaining candidate for the job before this becomes so out of hand! If Groce is not named the new coach, there is still Scott Drew out there.
