Freshman commits to Illinois

Jereme Richmond, a freshman (class of 2010) at North Shore Country Day High School in Winnetka, IL has verbally committed to Illinois. He currently 6'6" but will almost certainly grow several more inches. He has been recruited already by many major schools, and I have heard that Bradley coach Jim Les has been hotly recruiting this kid, too.

With almost 4 years until he arrives at Illinois, that gives the Kelvin Sampsons of college basketball a lot of time to get to this kid!
I would be surprised if he stays at the small school he is currently playing for.

If the kid wants to be an Illini..... then why not. If this kid wanted to come to Bradley, we would all be praising him.

Jereme Richmond plays for North Shore Country Day School, and my guess is he might be the only offensive option the team has.
In their game Tuesday night, North Shore lost to Chicago Latin, 75-64.
Richmond had 41 points (of his team's 64), 13 rebounds and got a technical foul.

By the way, here is a story about a kid from the Class of 2006, Nic Wise.
He was a phenom in some people's judgement when he was a freshman in high school, and was offered and accepted a scholarship to Arizona.

This story tells of how:
"as far as recruiting rankings are concerned, he completely fell off".
"many figure that Wise just never improved and that Arizona made a mistake by sticking to its word to the 5-foot-10 guard"

Nic Wise is now at Arizona. Arizona is 4-1, and Wise, a point guard, is getting a little playing time.
In 10 mpg, 3pt, 0.5 reb, 0.6 assists per game.
Only time will tell if Arizona got a steal by offering so early.
