All we're missing is Tony Barone to get the open SIU job now. But who would take Northern for the Italian directional U grand slam? Do I hear an Al Biancalana?

    Viva Italia!
    Great post.

Dick Versace no longer interested in the EIU job.
Former NBA and college coach Dick Versace said Wednesday he has pulled his name from consideration for Eastern Illinois' coaching vacancy.

Flew out of Peoria in the afternoon, saw the victory over Purdue, partied in the MSG neighborhood and we were back in Peoria at 3 the next morning.
DSD sure did know how to throw a trip or party together quickly!! I was just talking about his ability to get a NCAA pool together or 13 run pool the other day! My older brother was with me down in St. Louis for the tournament and he was telling our group about the NIT trip in 1982 and how dad got it done so quickly and got him out of school for it!

Will never forget watching the NIT semi-final game with a group of BU fans at the Tartan Inn and after the victory and a phone call we were all heading to New York on a charter flight. Don sure was a master at getting things organized.

              The latest at EIU..................

Sometimes the "big bucks" are not all they are cracked up to be...........Altman's Assistant Fish has to be making 2 or 3 times what EIU could pay him as an assistant at the "Nike School" but he is from this general area and must want to come back home pretty bad?

Its interesting that another Oregon assistant did the exact opposite. Kevin McKenna was the head coach at Indiana State, but decided he would rather be an assistant at Oregon under Dana Altman than remain a head coach at a Missouri Valley school.

Indiana State basketball coach Kevin McKenna has resigned to take an assistant coaching job at Oregon.
