Stansbury has always been a good recruiter, and many of his players have been All-SEC. But he seemed to be too commonly playing in the NIT. He made the NCAA 6 times in his 14 seasons at MSU, never winning more than 1 game, but only twice in the last 6 years.

A resignation is different than a firing. It sounds to me like he was just tired.

He's only 52, and I suspect it's like D'Antoni's "retirement". He is agreeing to leave because he'd be fired if he doesn't. I'll bet he'll still get the last 2 years of his $1.5 million/year salary. I expect to see him resurface somewhere else. He is a good recruiter, and that is a skill that usually is in demand.

It must just be a Mississippi State thing -- as they fired Stansbury and started over and everyone hoped they'd recruit better caliber kids instead of thugs and criminals...

but they just landed Quantel Denson - they guy who just got off easy on a felony robbery charge for breaking into his own juco coach's apartment and robbing him.

Quantel Denson must have a lot of talent that coaches keep drooling over because he as fast as he gets kicked off one team or cut loose, he keeps getting more offers...

Denson - after he was verballed to Mizzou, then cut loose, then also booted from his juco team for breaking in and robbing his own coach's apartment..
....he headed back to another juco - got kicked off a couple more teams and landed at Mineral Area in Park Hills, MO.

But - even tho he was their leading scorer and best player - looks like he just can't stay out of trouble and now he's been booted once again from his juco team -- but he still got offered and signed by Mississippi State - but will that last?...
