The MVC is not making itself look good so far- Evansville gave up 95 points at home to Princeton and lost 95-86. Princeton averages 67 points per game.
Evansvile shot very well, 60% from the field and 50% from three, but so did Princeton- 60% from the field, and 46% from three.
Just read where Gebru quits and Tyler is arrested and not be making the trip to Oregon...
Hopefully Mo gets the rest of the guys to step up....it would have been tough to win with everyone there much less without a starter and reserve post player
A very impressive CBI "Final Four" with Oregon St., Washington St., Pittsburgh and Butler making it to the semifinals. That would be a great NIT Final Four, or even a solid NCAA Final Four if the Pac-12 played up to their normal standards.
It seems to me that the CBI has stepped out somewhat as the third strongest of the post season tourneys. When you have a mid-major power and three "renegade" BCS teams in this tournament, and not to mention two pretty decent Mountain West teams in TCU and Wyoming as well, this definitely seems to be the more attractive "EIEIO" tourney. I know the CIT does not allow BCS teams in their tournament, but the CBI seems to attract more of the higher end mid-majors as well (outside of BCS teams in the Pac-12 and Big East, the only two BCS conferences ever to participate in this).
That said, maybe the Valley should not participate in the CIT in the future as this is basically the tournament that crowns the best lower-major team in the country.
The finalists in the CBI are Pittsburgh and Washington State. They begin their best of 3 series tonight (Mon. 3/26). Pitt pkays at Washington State tonight, then the next games will be at Pittsburgh on Wed. and Fri.
Washington St. won the first game Monday night 67=66. The best 2 out of 3 series moves to Pittsburgh for game 2 on Wednesday, and game 3 on Friday. I am guessing this series goes 3 games as it has every year.
4 out of the 5 years the CBI existed, it went the full 3 games, and the team that got 2 home games won. The lone exception was 2010 when VCU won the first game at home, then also won game 2 on the road for the only sweep.

Anyone can say what they want about the CBI. But this looks like some very good programs that have played in the CBI finals over the past five years. I would have to say this is far and away the best of the "EIEIO" tourneys, with many higher end mid-majors and a few BCS teams participating.
