  • My NCAA and NIT fields

This is not necessarily what I think the committee will do, but this is what they should do. These are the teams that should be in, and the seeds they should be, based on a formula I came up with that blends RPI with several other measures.

These were completed prior to today's games, so obviously OSU would no longer be in the 1 spot. I did have to add St. Bonaventure later.

    NCAA field
1 - Kentucky, Syracuse, Ohio State, North Carolina
2 - Michigan State, Kansas, Missouri Duke
3 - Wichita State, Indiana, Baylor, Wisconsin
4 - Memphis, Marquette, Georgetown, Louisville
5 - New Mexico, Florida State, Vanderbilt, Michigan
6 - Florida, St. Louis, Creighton, UNLV
7 - Gonzaga, Kansas State, Temple, Murray State
8 - Alabama, Iowa State, Cincinnati, Virginia
    9 - Purdue, St. Mary's, California, Texas
10 - Harvard, San Diego State, Connecticut, Notre Dame
11 - VCU, Xavier, Southern Mississippi, Long Beach State
12 - Belmont, West Virginia, North Carolina State, BYU/Miami
13 - Northwestern/Middle Tennessee, South Dakota State, Ohio, New Mexico State
14 - Davidson, St. Bonaventure, Colorado, Montana
15 - Lehigh, Loyola Maryland, Lamar, UNC Asheville
16 - Detroit, Long Island, Vermont/Norfolk State, Western Kentucky/Mississippi Valley State

    NIT field
1 - Seton Hall, Arizona, Iona, Drexel
2 - Minnesota, South Florida, Colorado State, Saint Joseph's
3 - Tennessee, Oregon, Washington, Marshall
4 - La Salle, Dayton, Illinois, Mississippi State
5 - Stanford, Akron, Mississippi, Massachusetts
6 - Oral Roberts, Central Florida, Northern Iowa, Wyoming
7 - Denver, Cleveland State, Nevada, Bucknell
8 - Texas Arlington, Valparaiso, Stony Brook, Savannah State

First 4 out of NIT - Pittsburgh, UCLA, LSU, Illinois State
Next 4 out of NIT - Virginia Tech, Iowa, George Mason, Buffalo

Nice job, but you already missed on Ohio State's #1 seed.

You're not as cynical of the NIT as I am

Interested to see what they do (or if they did anything) with FSU and Vandy. I moved 'em up, you sort of left them as is.

I am almost as interested to see the NIT bracket as I am the NCAA. The NCAA teams are almost a given...

Does anyone know when the game times are decided and publicized?
I assume it is done after the teams/brackets are announced, and CBS gets to plan their TV coverage.

Also missed on Iona- they are in the NCAA! Score one for the midmajors!

Both Joe Lunardi and Jerry Palm had Iona among their First Four Out!

Yeah that was because I had to work today, so had everything done before today...just swapped in St. Bonaventure once they won. Like I said, this wasn't my prediction of what the committee would do...it's what I thought they should do.

I am not trying to be picky- you did a good job, maybe fairer than the committee.
I don't try to pick a bracket, for good reason.

IMHO, I think your WSU rank would have been similar to the committee if they had won the MVC Tournament. I stated a week or so ago that I thought Creighton was a 10-12 seed so you never know....

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™
