Here are the first 2 names to surface to replace Doc Sadler at Nebraska- Dana Altman- said to be the front runner Bruce Weber- Nebraska will never be able to compete in the Big Ten unless they hire a coach like Weber who has well established recruiting connections in Chicago, the midwest, and nationally. There is simply not enough talent in Nebraska, and they have never been a national recruiting presence.

Surprised that Altman would want to move into the Nebraska job??
Surprised that Nebraska would want a fired coach from a team they recently beat?

-Dana Altman was born and raised in Nebraska. A Big Ten job, albeit with one of the bottom dwellers, is still a pretty good job, and most coaches would consider it a step up from the Pac-12, especially this year (the Nike money however, may equalize these jobs)
-Do you think Nebraska can do better than Bruce Weber? Who?
I actually think it will be the other way around- I doubt Weber would be interested in the Nebraska job. He will be getting paid $1.3 million per year for the next 3 years, and I suspect that buyout will be reduced if he earns money elsewhere. But look for Nebraska to hire a coach with much stronger midwest and Chicago recruiting connnections than Doc Sadler had, or possibly they could use some of their football money and hire an up-and-coming bright black coach, like Anthony Grant. Otherwise, it will be nearly impossible for any coach to be competetive in the Big Ten there.

If Nebraska can hire Grant then I think Illinois could too...I wouldn't mind seeing Grant in Champaign
Dana Altman apparently now out of the picture for Nebraska...
but if there was ever a time he might have wanted out of Oregon - now may have been the best time - as he did well this year & won with largely the players left behind and a couple transfers...but he loses a lot of his talent this year and had already lost a bunch of his young talent...
He may have a big dropoff next year..
Nebraska has reportedly contacted UW-Milwaukee head coach and former BU coach candidate Rob Jeter ...
Rob Jeter was one of the, if not THE top target when BU was hiring - and is named in just about every other mid-western coaching search....
seems a lot of people consider him a great coaching candidate...
And yet I talked with a guy who is a UWM fan today, and he was definitely not a Jeter fan - and said he was not alone and a growing number are getting disenchanted - and that Jeter may be just one bad year away from being cut loose. He actually thought they needed to let him go now, and repeatedly noted the lack of any post-season success in the past 6 years since Bruce Pearl's players were there.
I also found similar sentiments & comments on their message boards from others who feel likewise and terms like "mediocrity" (sound familiar) and "4th place or worse in 5 of the past 6 seasons"...
I just find the fan impatience to be such an odd phenomenon......
