  • Gonzaga v Butler for the NIT title?

    Go mid-majors!

Gonzaga taking #2 UNC behind the woodshed at the garden, up 65-49 at the 12 minute timeout. Whaddaya think about that Gary Williams?

    That's a final.

Funny... TV Analyst/announcer sounded disappointed UNC lost.

M Few was asked about this win over the highest ranked opponent for Gonzaga in their history (#2 UNC) - he said he wasn't aware of that and he would take the NCAA Tourney wins over this one anyday.

Musberger sounded a little disappointed, probably because he knows the ratings are going to stink for the final. Lavin seemed to have more appreciation for what was happening, being a former coach and all. Regardless, good for schools like BU who just want a chance to be seen and heard. Lets hope the good mid-major vibes continue this weekend and we can take home a title.

Is that all non-BCS schools want?

One thing the ESPN announcers noted is how hard it is to win on the road in many major conferences.
They cited Wisconsin who wins consistently at home but actually has a losing record every year in the road.

I thought I'd check this out and here are the numbers.

            In the Bo Ryan era:
76-5 at home, but 24-28 on the road

            Since 99-00
            33-44 on the road

            Since 1975
            97-271 on the road!

In fact, since 1974-1975, they have had a winning season on the road only twice.
If they don't get the tremendous home court advantage they are a sub-500 team. Proof of that is that even at neutral sites they lose as much as they win. they are at .500 over the same interval on neutral sites.

Good. I absolutely hate UNC and Roy Williams, especially after the way they played in the national title two years ago.

                Good grief.

They say time heals... but the crying continues.
