Just saw this on ESPN
The sources told Yahoo! that other Auburn players were questioned about whether Ward attempted to get them to join a point-shaving scheme.
Varez Ward visited Bradley and liked it and was offered a scholarship. He held out and eventually committed to Cincinnati. But he backed out of that commiment and then committed to Texas. He played a lot and even started as a freshman at Texas, but an injury turned him into a sub his soph year, so he transferred to Auburn.
Here is an old thread about him when he was a recruit at the Patterson School prep school in North Carolina. He was a teammate there with another BU recruit who ended up doing well, Darius Johnson-Odom.

After many months of investigation, Varez Ward was finally arrested this week and charged with bribery relating to a sports contest and conspiracy, for allegedly trying to fix the point spread for the Tigers' game against Arkansas on Jan. 25, 2012.-
