Whats the word on this kid?

  • #2
I think we all know there will be further roster turnover, and it seems the most obvious players affected will be the guys who didn't seem to fit into Geno's playing rotation. That could very likely mean Devon. But I think we should stop short of speculating about the specifics of which players will or should leave until there is some official announcement.

Guys let's let this play out! We are talking kids here. Speculation on this should not be played out on this board IMHO.

        Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

I have no problem discussing players who couldn't see the floor on a dead last place team. In fact, one in particular didn't see the floor on back to back last place teams.

Players leave the program almost every year and this off season will be no different. Hopefully, any moves will benefit both the young men involved and our Bradley Braves as well. I'll thank these young fellas now for their class and contributions.

Talking about general speculation and specifically about a player IMO is different. Some feel because they got a scholie they are open for complete scrutiny. I just feel different. Call me humane in my older years. When you start getting older you realize how young you really were in college.

The Hodges discussion feels weird to me. After a year of no HS ball, no one expected him to contribute this year and he lived up to expectations.

But on the humane discussion. What is more humane? Keeping all players, or bringing in better practice competition so a DSE, JP or Walt type existing player can fully develop into an all-MVC level player?

Hodges got a raw deal in HS, and so I didn't really expect him to be a contributor this year, I think everyone knew that coming in. I would have liked to see him redshirt with Nate. He would not be my first pick for someone to run off after this year.

You can be "not happy", but to say that this was needed is an understatement. He was not going to be of much value to next year's team, so we can use the open scholly to help the team.
I was not happy when Edge left. But that was also probably the best decision.
