Final
ISU 79
Creighton 83
Box score for the Creighton Bluejays vs. Illinois State Redbirds NCAAM game from March 4, 2012 on ESPN. Includes all points, rebounds and steals stats.
Great game. Tough for ISU. Nick Moore and Tyler Brown played tremendously all weekend.
Why did Illinois State go away from Carmichael in the second half, and overtime?

Either way, Creighton and Wichita St. are going to be very tough teams to beat in the NCAA Tournament.

Brown played completely reckless in the last 10 minutes plus OT of that game. While his first half play brought them back and kept him in, his second half/OT play cost them the victory.

Great game and shows us if you can get good players it does not matter if they are JUCOS or freshman, Moore was outstanding and so was Brown, I think ISU playing Wichita wore them down more because Creighton had such an easy game against Evansville that they were able to rest their starters a lot more which made a difference in overtime.
Creighton and Wichita are both good teams and it will be more about matchups in the NCAA as far as how each team does in advancing in the tour.

I loved the way the announcers pronounced "Ickey" for Ekey...and Ekey sure couldn't stop Dougie - they made a mistake during that stretch when ISU was up 6 trying to hold the lead with Ekey playing McDermott...
BUT knowing the way the people on the selection committee are always inordinately impressed with just a couple games in March - then I'd have to think ISU may have played themselves into an NIT bid...
generally playing yourself into the NIT is a move down but in this case it may be better than what they were headed towards....

Unfortunately, Gene Kelly died in 1996, so every team in the MVC has danced since then.

Here's an idea for you Jank. You have a great team coming back next year. You will be a legitimate threat to win the Valley next year, or at least finish a strong second behind Creighton. Why not schedule to match that team?! Not that they would have had a chance for an at-large bid this year at 9-9, but with a strong non-conference schedule you might have at least been on the bubble this year. But you have a great team coming back next year, so schedule tough and embrace that schedule. It may actually pay big dividends down the line!
Anyway, enjoy your time at the NIT this year.
