it was an observation - he thinks far more of about 10 other players on the team - I am not saying he doesn't like Max - but it is quite apparent he does not think Max deserves much playing time

I have no problem with Nate Wells and it is a very similar situation. Some players just don't develop like both parties hope, doesn't mean someone has done something wrong.

That is what I figured... however, I find it pretty hard to believe you would recruit anyone for their family money...especially when Michigan has the 2nd largest endowment in the nation among public universities and 7th overall.

Every Athletic Department, no matter how well funded, always wants more money to pay for updating facilities, recruiting budgets, etc.

well - there have been suspicions as to why certain players have been recruited and there have been times kids were recruited reportedly just because their families were wealthy - you can draw your own conclusions
In fact - Bielfeldt might even be one of someone who got an offer for reasons beyond athletic ability...
- there were some who thought some of the recruiting interest he did get was due to the status of his family

I don't think so - I think it has been argued the very fact an "offer" was made to Bielfeldt (initially a preferred w/o with scholarship down the road - later a full offer) by Illinois was for the sake of his family
Maybe Michigan really thought he'd be of help and play there - but it isn't thus far turning out that way..
